shadow,
well technically I don't think you wouldn't be standing, because you would be in the spiritual realm. I guess I am assuming that spiritual beings have no forms...but I could be wrong.

Quirky,

Interesting. I personally would rather not be standing outside my body and watcing it move and talk. Guess I'm just a little bit selfish in that prespective. Shadow

Interesting subject Quirky  Pretty much how I feel about souls and bodies...

I always remember the scenes from "Ghost"
that deal with channeling.

katray--
my friend did have a pretty good life with relatively few problems...but I imagine if it were not so, then it would become rather a challenge to come back.

Good explanation Quirky
I wondered about this also. Amazing. The idea of leaving your body is a bit unsettling - I think I would resist coming back too. This blog is wonderful - clear, well written and so informative. Thank You!

jojo--
yes, she found it interesting, exciting and frightening all at the same time. I'm not so sure I would want to channel, I understand the temptation to stay where you are can be quite great. I'm not sure I would opt to come back to my body.

wow Quirky!

What an experience to be able to see your body moving and talking in a way that is different then you are familiar with. It seems like it might be almost frightening but at the same time I almost want to be able to do it myself.  I like the idea of thinking of your body as a vessel and thinking of the soul as a seperate entity. The possibilities are endless.

I'm not sure if all humans experience astral travel, but I know that I have.

I used to have 'night terrors'. I thought I was attempting to be possessed for a long time, until Sylvia Browne answered the question for me in another person's experience. She stated that it was the own person's spirit coming back in upon waking. It was delayed, which gave the sensation of being trapped.

I love this

Think of the body as a vessel, a ship that we, as spiritual beings, have created for the purpose of experiencing life from a third-dimensional perspective

We think a great deal alike.

I have never thought about dreams or sleep like that but it's good pondering material

Godiva--
Yes, I can see why you would feel that way. Like I said to Ben, it was often tempting (if that is the right word) for her to remain where she was instead of to come back.

posted by Julia. on October 25, 2005 at 6:43 PM | link to this | reply

good answer
Thanks for the follow up to my question.  That was kind of the response that I was looking to hear becuase I've had a couple astral projections during my sleep but never ventured too far for fear of not being able to return to my body and I can't even begin to imagine being out a whole hour or more.

Ben--
Yes and no. She had faith but also, it was often somewhat challenging because it was different where she was, so there was the feeling of not wanting to come back into a physical body.

That is interesting. That friend has absolute faith that her spirit will return to her own body!
