You are taking a huge step, but it's one that needs to be taken. I was in a similar situation with my oldest daughter's father. Then, with the strength of my dad and mom to support me, and the beauty of my baby to guide me, I slowly freed myself from the man. We may have a child together, but today, that's all we share. He is a stranger to me now and I like it that way. The lessons I have learned have helped me to become who I am and prepare me to live a good, honest life and be a better person. You will be fine. Stay strong and don't antagonize. Before you know it, you'll be free.
