Trevor, that's great -- a novel!

I'm with you all the way -- what matters is who we are on the inside.  Which means, for me, that I would likely choose to remain scarred/disfigured in spite of such a surgery.  But who knows?  We can never know for certain until we've had to walk down that path.

Good to "chat" with you!

Intriguing blog
This is my first time through... hello!  That is a crazy idea, and kind of creepy too.  If I try to put myself in the place of a seriously disfigured person (however impossible this might be), I think I would consider it.  All the "it matters who are inside" stuff aside, I think appearances are very important in society.  Why else would we have teeth whiteners, make-up, oil of olay, etc. etc.  The main character of the novel I am writing right now is severely disfigured from a volcanic eruption, so this blog really struck a chord with me.  Thanks!

Thanks Justso, will do so.
And yes, I think I'm with you on the scarring. Although having never been in that position I cannot say for sure but am about 99% certain.

Hey Janes!!!

I'll take the scarring any day! I am who I am on the inside anyway. It takes a lot of conficence to not be afraid of being scared and ugly but not as much as it would wearing another person's face. Say Yuk, Yuk twice and up chuck.

Read Corbin's post. It is the one directly next to yours. A great one!

JanesOpinion, I did hear about this, but I did not want to think too much about it.  Not only does the operation sound horrific but so does the need for one.   I don't know what I would do in such a case.

That's why I didn't post it

You would have to really want that contract - not everyone would like to sit around writing about Cancer once a month.  I hope to make it fun with PodCasting and illustrations cartoons and lesson plans.

Cancer prevention is in early detection.  We don't give Melanomas time enough to become full blown here.  Most people go for a check at least 6 monthly.

It can become Paranoic though.

So Trust in God and lock up your camels.

I'm with you on that prevention business!

I believe that the majority of cancers are preventable.  Skin cancer in Australia might be a doozy but in general, most cancers I think might be avoidable.  So meanwhile I continue to take my flax seed and Vitamin C on a regular basis. . . .

Regarding wiki, I probably have enough on my platter, but thanks for the offer!!!

It is new

It is a Cancer Wiki site.  I can give you the application link if you like. (Paid)

I don't think melanoma is less but I don't know I would have to find out.

My sister works in Palliative Care for those sufferers.

She is right onto prevention prevention prevention prevention prevention prevention prevention

Am I right in thinking there's less incidence of melanoma in Australia?

Didn't know you could do that with wiki, what a great idea!

Wellll

I grew up with it all around.  So we kinda accept it when it comes.

I have applied to a Wiki site to Blog about Sun Cancer Prevention for kids.

Ah, Jo,

I'm sorry to hear of your cancer struggles.  I haven't been to your "about me" section, but judging from your name, are you an Aussie?  If so, you guys do have a higher incidence of skin cancer, don't you?

Hang in there, and thanks for visiting!

Oh

When my dad died he literally had no original face.

From Sun Cancer.

I too am battling that cancer

but

a new

face that belongs to someone else?

I'll think about it if it ever happens.

Til then I won't think about it

Thanks for the interesting read.
