Man, what a total jerk! It's not like you guys were asking for a full day. Just a mere half hour of their time en route to home! Hopefully, people will band together and swamp the commander with correspondence. He ought to be ashamed of himself!!

By the way, it sounds like you have a wonderful little community to reside in.

My husband says not to worry about the parade or anything else they really don't need it.  These soldiers are so selfless it amazes me.  He insists all they did was their job as they were paid to it.  I see it alot differently.  Thank you so much.

I don't deserve or want anything but answers for my soldiers.  They earned better than this treatement.

If I have anything to do with it, she will be answering to the military BEFORE she has a chance to run out and BEFORE those soldiers come home.  The soldiers deserve an explaination as to why their families and communities have busted their tails to raise ALOT of money (enough to pay off my house with some left over) and in the course of a year they have gotten one box of donated personal care items and snacks out of it.

Our military is the best................

they deserve it all, and then some!!!! - if we all will just open our eyes and look what they've given us!

MW, you deserve a crown for persuing this.  God bless you, girl!   I guess, maybe this has got your time tied up and that's why you didn't post yesterday.  You know I miss you, don't you?  lol

Ot's sad the way people ruin things that were meant to make things better.
Such effort should have been rewarded...

Unfortunately, it seems that so many times, regular people (those of us not in charge) try to do things for extraordinary people and get stepped on.  I am so sorry.  You constantly provide me with a bit more humility and more open eyes than before I checked in with you.  I really hope you get this resolved, because, our guys (I use that term loosely) deserve AT LEAST a parade for god's sake!  Good luck.

hey so im up to 999 hits, and i really want to see it roll over to 1000, but i've been waiting for awhile and i haven't gotten it yet.  i'm beginning to get impatient, so can you go click on my blog?  i'm sick of waiting, and it's kind of a win/win, because you'll be able to tell your friends that you were the 1000th hit on my blog before i was famous.

LOLOLOL!  I just taked to someone in the IG's offices because I couldn't get an answer elsewhere.  The IG said that they can't pay the soldiers for anything for 90 days, which is put into place to prevent the commander or anyone forcing them back.  Therefore if he can't pay them, he can't make anything madatory and he intends to email the commander and tell him just that.

He also said that if anyone gets into trouble or is treated outside of the norm for not attending he wants to be called.

Thanks so much hon!  You ARE right!

posted by Bel_ on October 21, 2005 at 9:32 AM | link to this | reply

30 days?

Wrong answer.  The 90 day rule was put there for a reason...to give these people some fuckin time to get their lives back together.  Are you sure this is mandatory thing?  Cuz if it is, someone may want to bring it up to a higher link in the chain of command.  Just because the commander says it doesn't mean it's right...

I mean, I COULD be wrong...but I didn't think the 90 day thing was up to a commander's discretion.  But then again...EVERYTHING is up to a commander's discretion, strictly speaking.  But he had better have a good reason.

Thanks so much.  Honestly, I am at my wits end and so tired of fighting everyone to get even the smallest thing done for these soldiers.  I may call the Gen that I ahve had contact with since they left.  He is a really good man and has attended several of our fund raisers.  He seems to have taken a personal interest in our unit, maybe he can help.

I wish all of you would come home to the welcome you deserve, it is just wrong that any of you come home without the honor that you have earned.

I hope so, but it looks like things are pretty well squashed at this point.  The Captain has his mind made up and is not budging.  Ah well, I know we did our best and I hope somehow we can still make that day memorable for those men and women.

Thanks a million. It is true that jockeying with more than one language is is not an easy task, but in the case of Cameroon, it more than that. It is the desire of one language or its speakers to suppress the other that is causing problems.

My welcome home
Was 3 months after the fact. It seemed almost stupid to do what we did. I and many fellow soldiers hated the whole thing. One because it wasn't about us it was about the brass and the congress-people. I would much rather have had something directly following the reunion with my family in which the crowd was there for us. What you have put together is ideal and awesome. You spent to much time and effort into planning this event to let some low life low level brass get you down. My suggestion call the adjutant general and kindly explain to him what the soldiers are being told by this captain. I gurantee you that 3 star will have him at attension over the phone lmao. Chins up dont let this get you down. You have been awesome to thesse soldiers.

It honestly kills me the way some people treat our troops!
We wouldn't be here today breathing the air we breathe and talknig about things on Blogit if it weren't for them. I think this is horrendous! I'm deeply appalled at the actions of this woman, and hopefully someone will look into it soon. Good luck MW!!!

That is the biggest surprise in all of this.  The man has always been very reasonable.  Part of me wonders if Idiot Woman has had her hands in this.

Quirky
The man ahs always been very approachable so I really don't understand this.  I have mad e the decision to email him and see if maybe there is some kind of misunderstanding in all of this.  The final word is always his but I am beginning to wonder if he actually has the accurate information.  I'm hoping at least to this part we can find  a happy medium.

MW,

It figures that the incompetent idiot is the one tasked with the most important things.  I'm very sorry to hear about the parade being cancelled, and the stupid choices being made.  I hope Buck is ok, and that the soldiers can get the recognition they deserve somehow.

MW,the man (commander) has no heart - what a bitch he is!......

Well, I hope it all works out  Those soldiers deserve all the recognition and praise they get and then some.  I know you'll let us know the outcome of all this.  Good luck.

It's a shame, she could have done so much with the resources that were available to her.  Those soldiers should have never even needed to buy a calling card. Yet, they have seen almost NOTHING.

I have had it, I am tired of pouring my heart and soul into something to have it come back and bite me.  Carl will be home in less than 45 days if all goes according to plan and I am just staying the hell away from everyone until then.  I'm putting idiot woman in the hands of the military to see if they can do anything.

I stay away from her.  I am not a person who has ever hit another person but with her I can actually see myself punching her because I get so angry when I think of what she has done to my soldiers.

At this point I am putting it in the hands of someone that can do something about it.

Thanks!
