I had a friend who got divorced a couple years ago. At first, she was very hurt and hated her ex-husband. Then, after awhile, she said everything cleared up for her and she realized that she, too, was responsible for the dissolve of her marriage. She suddenly had no ill-wishes for him.
In my opinion (take it for just that, and nothing more), if you still love this man, then you need to worry more about becoming his friend again first--a true, caring friend. Open yourself to him, get to know him again, and don't pressure him for anything else.

the more you love someone
the more it hurts when it ends. Doesn't matter how it ends. Doesn't matter whose fault it was. Doesn't matter if you haven't seen them in years. It hurts to see them again, upsets you when you see them with someone else. It hurts when you don't think they feel the same way. best of luck getting through this.
