Good post. I think it's good that you were honest with your daughter. I would have done the same. I personally don't use religion as a buffer, though, as you put it. I recognize bad things, and I don't pretend they don't happen. It's naieve to do that, as you have said. I don't know why some people, Christians and others alike do this.
