It would not be too big and honour

in rememberance of the lives that were lost,  to call a halt to work for a day.

Heroes' Day--that's a totally cool holiday. The fact you get off of work. ., that's even more cool!! In The States, we still haven't managed to make 9-11 (which received the dorky title of Patriots Day) an observed day off of work.

No problem,
I definitely will enjoy the holiday. Glad you got sorted out.

Malcolm,

I really can't say I'm unhappy with the weather.  It was as hot as hell here up to 2 weeks ago until we started having non-stop rain. The temperature is much more bearable as it's cooler. Glad to hear you're having good weather.

Sorry to hear that it's still coming down
We've had two lovely mild days here in England, in fact I can't remember days in October being so beautiful. I went for a walk this afternoon and the fields just looked green and lush, as though they too couldn't believe that winter was just around the corner.

Telly,

We saw it again for about 2 minutes this morning.

Good advice that!

It's bog land up here too, while we're not flooding as badly as NJ, it's still a mess. Can't wait to see the sun again!

I love rain too
Feels more cosy inside. Enjoy your break Word and remember to listen to the music of the raindrops now and then.

Flightpath,
I guess the weather is one of those things we don't know how to turn on and off, yet.

Lensman

Jamaica is approx. 4244 square miles in size, 50 miles wide by 150 miles long. It is more than 7200 feet at the highest point. And yes, there is a massive highway construction programme. Travelling time from Kingston to MoBay etc. has been drastically reduced.

The rains haven't bothered me too much except the cost in cabfare. I hate to take the bus when it rains. It takes much longer to get from one place to another.

word smith...can't tell you how much rain is welcomed here !! Drought all summer, requiring daily watering of newly planted trees. It's all relative. Understandably now - New Jersey wants it to stop!!

Seems a lot of folks are getting rained on these days.  I'm like you.  Although I do love sunshine, I don't get depressed when it rains.  I guess that's because I have so many activities I can do indoors, plus I have a comfortable home.  I just discovered something about Jamaica that surprised me.  You have 18,000 kilometres of highway there.  Just exactly how big is Jamaica, anyway?

Argus,
We have not had any major slippages as yet, but the roads have suffered. A few have been closed and pothole after pothole keep appearing.

Tissi,
The worst part for me is when the rain stops and things begin to dry out.  Then, the humidity is enough to kill you!

Cass,
Seems like there is no happy medium these days. Sometimes we get none at all and then when it rains it goes on for days and days on end.

Offbeats, this system is a big 'un
and it seems determined to remain stationary. All told, we've only had 2 hours where the rain stopped for a while.

word, we've had non-stop rain here in Costa Rica as well.
I'm glad I live in the mountains; sometimes our road is a river. The people living lower down are really suffering with flooding and landslides. Hope its finished soon. ARGUS

I can't believe it is still raining there! Maybe I need to check out the weather channel. Anyway for what it's worth, our rain finally went away, for a few days at least! Stay dry my friend!!

Hammock, I guess from the sound of it

you're having rain too!

Thanks Bright.
People scurry around outside and in when the sun does come out. It shone briefly today, for all of  about 5 minutes.
