Thanks Justsouno,

Yes, too many are too quick to jump on the whole free speech boondoggle (it's my right, it's all about free speech), forgetting that Rome fell from within.  Towards the end of that mighty empire, there was so much immorality and mayhem, they were completely ill prepared for the Germanic invaders.

We have become so fixated on pleasure as a society -- whatever pleases me -- that we have forgotten to consider the past as we look to the future.  It's all about NOW and ME and doing whatever I WANT to make ME feel good NOW.

Thank you for stopping by.  God bless!

This is another excellent post. The last one you did was just porn taken one step forward. Can you imagine the horror of turning loose men who leave these bars where in their minds it is okay, I just saw it in public.... OMG! The repercussions from this open public sex is so incredibly horrific. There is one way to stop it. Do you remember a place called Pompeii? Don't tell me God isn't angry again! BB Keep these coming.

Ariel, sadly, you are right.

Good reminder for all.

Taps, I completely agree with you.
Thank you for your opinion.  I've heard of many homes and marriages destroyed over porn.  It bothers me to see the industry exponentially growing, like a freight train with the throttle stuck wide open.  How the heck do you put a stop to it before it's too late?

Ariel70

thanks for your perspectives from history.  Sadly, we don't seem to learn from the mistakes of history as we should, eh?

Thank you for stopping by!

JanesOpinion, I do not believe that it is ever harmless.  Viewing pornography changes a person.   It is akin to the fact that words once spoken cannot be recalled.   The picture of viewed pornography is forever imprinted on the mind.

History abounds with examples of how pornography - referred to in former times as 'unbridled licence' - has corrupted and perverted social mores and values to the point of that society's extinction.

There is clear evidence to show the role of pornography in the demise of the Roman, Persian and Attic empires.

What else can pornography do than to erode people's self control, and cheapen to the point of worthlessness love and lasting relationships? Unlike in eroticicm, there is no emotional content in pornography ; rather it is the pleasures of the abbatoir and the butcher's shop.

thanks, Brimstone, for your comments

I agree there is a difference between child porn and "regular" porn.  In all fairness and honesty, I'm not certain what sort of porn Ted Bundy was looking at that contributed in sending him down that dreadful path.

Regarding the "regular" porn (versus child porn) it's one of those (shadier, in my opinion) free speech options that we'll always have, but which I question its value for edifying and strengthening a person and a relationship.

Difficult...I believe if people want to veiw porn, let them.

Makers and veiwers of certain kinds of porn, however, should be punished. There is no reason - ABSOLUTELY NO REASON - that makers and veiwers of child porn should be alive. PERIOD. Same goes for the "barnyard porn". No reason or excuse for these people to be walking around, breathing our air.

Violent porn? To be honest, I have never heard or seen any porn that is made to come off as rape. I have no doubt that it is out there, but I don't see it as being there for any JoeSchmo to simply pick up somewhere. One would probably have to ask for it or order it special. That there should be enough to get any watchdog's ears to stand up and say, "Hey...we should keep our eyes open for this person."

I think, though, that if a couple wants to watch a porn movie together, then it is not a problem. As long as it does not become a permanent staple in their sexual relationship.

Very good post...thought provoking.
