That last line was hilarious...sometimes what strikes us as funny comes the most inappropriate times....perhaps that's part of what makes it so funny. I wrote a post a while back about some of my great grandmother's southern gems. They really are unique...was your grandfather in the military?  Just a guess...great post!

My family also has its own expressionss, but they are in Flemish dialect and for you guys hard to understand. The most beautiful is this one: answer to the question "who?": Gatspie van de zjologie (referring to one of the monkeys in the Antwerp Zoo in the 1920's).

Not Just Your Family
Like yours, my family had expressions like "Uglier'n than a hat fulla assholes" to "Ain't dat the cat's ass?" to "More nervous than a whore in church" to "She was so big she could kick-start an aircraft carrier" and so on.  Yep, the family is full of charmers.
