Joe, very true. I'm already not wanting to ask her how she's feeling every day!

Man, that's a shame that your co-worker is bent on ruining what should be a positive experience (losing weight) by constantly complaining. She keeps it up, and nobody will give a darn about her improved physical state. *grin*

muser, my evening was nice thanks! And yes, I would like to say that just once...

staggering - I agree. I feel much better if I hit the gym or do something physical to get rid of negative energy.

Symphony - lol! The easiest weight loss I've ever had is when major relationships have broken up. However its probably not a good way to lose weight...

ginnie, I did have a relaxing evening thanks. You are right about victim complex - I guess some people are just like that.

Hollee - I agree. Especially the bit about hard to get rid of. For some reason negativity acts like superglue...

Flame-thrower, sometimes we do have to chose the people we associate with for our own sanity.

YES! I can Just once...wouldn't you like to say :
"Gee, there seems to be a lot of negativity in your life...doesn't that make you feel negative? Do you ever feel happy?" It probably wouldn't change things, I know...but then again...

Hope your evening was really nice, and free of anything negative!

channel
People need to learn how to channel negative energy. Too many people get angry, upset or cranky about things and don't do anything about it. Go for a walk, build something, do anything, but just don't complain.

Cass,

I'm sorry for her troubles, but focusing on the negatives will only make her feel worse.  Hope you're feeling better!

I always stay clear from negative people (hard for you as shes your boss)
as I feel emotionally drained afterwards...now tell me about this weight loss so I can try for stress too....

good for you!
It takes a strong will to stay unaffected by rampant negativity.  I'm glad you didn't succumb and bring it home with you or worse, spread it.  Kudos!  I wouldn't ask Susie Sunshine anything anymore..why give her an open door?  Bleah...Anyway, I hope tomorrow is better.

Good for you!

Every now and then negativity gets the best of me, but most of the time I try to just brush it off and not let it get to me.  Obviously, that's easier said than done!

good for you Ca88,
focusing on the positive can only help you, and try not to let the negative folks get to you.

Sounds like a victim complex...
...some people thrive on the bad stuff...it's nutty but it happens.  I've read that one is born with a happy constitution..or not!  Hope you had a relaxing evening Cass!

Cass--negative people are a drain on energy--like a black hole--they
can be quite tiresome yet hard to avoid. Drives me nuts.

Your lead matches well with the body of your piece. It is true that when you are surounded by nagtive people or negative thoughts it is not a good thing. It is better to change your company or the people you meet with or stay alone. My colleagues call me loner, but I don't like to seat with them for nothing positive comes from their mouth.
