A fascinating post! I've never been to Cyprus, but I have been to Crete, and your reference to acient vehicles reminds me that while in Crete some years ago, I saw a German BMW military motorbike and sidecar, still in its original colour, and with the black cross still visible.
I also saw a Second World War Hafflinger jeep, also in its original livery. Smart dudes them Greeks!
