This is how Bush is restoring honor and decency to the White House.  He has to buy media that will say he's doing it.   I love it whenever Bush get's caught with his pants down (figuratively) we have to have people try to change the subject to Bill Clinton getting caught with his pants down (literally).

Oh yeah... welll blah, blah, blah, Clinton, blah, blah, blah.  It's truly laughable.

writer . . .

I think the point is freedom of press

so would  you rather the soldiers shot the press correspondents?

odd writer of darkness
Bill got hit from every conceivable angle by Republicans with their ill will and vitriol and really had no place to hide -- sexual dalliances were a handy peg for them to hang their attack mode on -- dogs tearing up everything they could --

while this administration has lied its way to much greater sins.

maybe we ought to compare sins

sexual sins

Clinton -- about 3 or 4 that we know of

Bush -- you'd have to be pretty certain there are some -- but they're hidden.

lying

Clinton -- lying to the public and press about sex with Monica -- however, the Grand Jury testijmony? -- I remember the tape -- according to their definition, he certainly did not "have sex" with Monica.

Bush -- lying to get us into war with Iraq -- costs lives, economy and other resources, particularly lives -- this lying is much more destructive.

killing

Clinton -- led a few actions -- (personally, I disagree with straight military action without real validity as to its necessity)\

Bush -- We'll leave out Afghanistan ok? -- but Iraq? -- invaded a country with no real provocation (see lying above -- all the reasons were pretty well null and void - and yes, Saddam was a dictator; however, there are other means to depose him, and we allow such dictators to exist because they servie U.S. interests [Saddam was one such -- we turned a blind eye to his atrocities as long as what he did helped us]) -- no evidence of WMD's, etc. Thousands of Iraquis, thousands of U.S. -- have died -- tens of thousands wounded -- with no chance of rehabiliataion into mainstream -- many widows and orphans that now will have to be supported (knowing the gov's track record there's a ? on that) by government (taxpayer) aid.

violation of the constitution

Clinton -- non that we know of -- he was acquitted during the impeachment process, and rightfully so.

Bush -- violates freedom of the press, freedom of speech, principle of separation of church and state -- if not outright, then by intent.

and i am certain there are more. If anyone wants to add on to this . . . then go ahead.

Oh yes -- writerofdarkness -- what you are saying about Bush is that it's all right that he does because others before him have done the same?

what do you tell your children when you prohibit them from doing something and they say, "Jimmy does it!" or "Jimmy's parents let him do it."

Sound like what every politician has done from time immemorial . . .
. . . but it's wrong only if the Bush administration does it? Gee, I wonder how much of this went on in the Bubba years to deflect attention from his dalliances with the babes and the criminal conduct of his staff and cabinet?
