Joe, its all to do with logistics, the stadium is too far away to drop my son off, go home and come back. By the time I got home I would have to turn around again.

that's pretty cool you've committed so much time to your boy's basketball. I mean, going to their practices and stuff. That's A LOT of basketball already.

Factor, I'm not sure what teacher's get paid, but I've heard it is quite good. I don't know any that get summer jobs.

Wow, that is confusing...
Do teachers get paid better there since they cannot "get a summer job" as they supposedly can here?

Usual, I guess I'm already a basketball fanatic. I love watching the game even though I still dont know all the rules, even after having watched my boys play every week for the last 8 years or so...

Factor - our school year begins in the last week of January and ends the week before Christmas. The year is split into four terms with a two week holidays between each term. First term usually runs from January - April (Easter is usually around the holidays), second term ends in June/July, third term ends in September and fourth term just before Christmas. Of course next year Melbourne is hosting the Commonwealth Games and the school terms have all been changed to accommodate this. The other thing to remember is that each of the states has different length school terms - just to confuse everyone!

You're gonna be a sports fanatic before you know it!
And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sports can be a lot of fun if you actually know how the games are played. Sounds like you had a great week...hope that feeling carries over for a long while.

So I guess my click is not going to help your finances much...

I am still trying to figure out your school year since you are ummm upside down so to speak. So, your Christmas holidays are in the middle of the summer break? Do you have any of your school breaks around calendar holidays? That is how ours are arranged... just curious

muser - yes, we should all seize the day! Each moment is so precious and when its gone it will never return. I did enjoy spending the money on the boys, even though I know it will be difficult to start again with the saving. But hey, I can't take it with me when I'm gone!

i'VE BEEN THINKING A LOT ABOUT TIME AS WELL OF LATE...
each day gets more precious... I am so glad you enjoyed your vacation time with your sons, and that you were able to attend so many of their games...they will never forget your dedication, and your devotion. AND I'm SO GLAD YOU SPENT THE MONEY ON THEM CA88ANDRA! I know that whatever you spent...your pleasure in spending that amount you worked so hard to save on your boys quadrupled your pleasure...at least! Great post...so real! LIVE each moment...

about the speedup of time
it's not just that we're getting older a day at a time. The universe itself is moving faster. I pay too much attention to the science channel... There's a new great-granddaughter born 3 weeks ago who has changed and grown almost beyond recognition -- I suppose this is proof of some kind that substantiates your notion that time is flying... :)

It's easy to get so caught up in the day to day, I know.
Since we got to talk tonight now I feel like I said everything! I'm glad you've had a good time with the boys, and had some time for yourself. Money is so crazy, seems like the people I know that have it don't appreciate it and just hold it over other people like they are better than the rest of us....and the people I know who don't have it are the ones who are super generous and spiritual. I'm speaking only of people I know, but it seems like money may be a lesson we need to be ready for. I know at the wrong time, it would have made me a very different person...judgemental and such, like the folks I know are. I've learned being without does teach, and like a good friend said to me on another subject, maybe your teacher is almost there. ;)

Your boys are sure into basketball eh Cass?
All three or just the two? I'm sure it will be hard to say goodbye...we said goodbye to Steve's girls a few weeks ago after seeing them again in England for a weekend and having them here with us in August...the goodbyes never get any easier. Steve will see them again next month in England and those times are always so wonderful..and then the goodbyes. I feel for you Cass but it sounds like you've had a great week and in the end, that's what counts!
