Reminds me of that joke: How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?....Nobody knows because no one has ever seen any doing it! (sorry guys....just a little humor)

Great entry!! Well-written and just outright fun to read!! I found myself grinning more times than not while cruising through your words, imagining without problem, having to slide into the next stall with my pants down to my knees, and glancing over at the toilet roll to see only one square left. Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Lisa,

Hiding the paper would certainly be tempting.   Wouldn't you know it, I got caught by the paper thing again today. The VP came in  and asked for paper. I turned to the tray and what did I find? A package with no paper inside. I almost moaned in frustration.

Thanks...
So true Word.Smith...I've yet to see suffering from laziness; I'm ready to hide all the TP in the house, and watch them squirm when stuck all alone, with no one to turn to.  So funny, yet so true.

Flame-Thrower,

Sometimes we must think about how our actions affect others we have to live among.

Word-sometimes we take things for granted so when we are deprived it is our wake up call. Good post  Chili

A good one that makes or pushes for more thought when one is at work.

Funny....yesterday, we were passing the only roll of toilet tissue around
underneath the stalls!

Lib,
I bet the dogs wonder about those sheepish grins you wear each time you remember that you forgot to pick up after yourself.

Medusa,

Good one. I should start dropping money next to empty paper packages tosee if by chance the empties get picked up as well.  I won't hold my breath though.

At least you have someone to blame it on.  I find that these things haven't been done and get pissed off...but it's only because I've procrastinated and not done them!

Ha...word.smith...I love your 4-yr-old...I know adults like him, lol.....
I know what you're saying...All excellent points...I don't know what this lazy stuff is all about. Usually 90% of that can be blamed on some spoiled men and boys, plenty of whom I know.....You're just a good woman. Face it....I always say that I could leave a pile of dog poo for several days on the floor before my oldest brother would even bother to pick it up. He's still like that. But if I dropped $20 on the floor, somehow he would know how to bend over and pick up that, haha.

Jacenta,

I've always said that the world is such an interesting place because it is made up of so many different characters.    Can you imagine what it would be like if nobody picked up? I can't! Although it goes unappreciated most of the time, it's good to know that someone else is being helped and it would feel awful if someone fell down and hurt themself because of  something you could have done to change the situation and didn't.  Keep on being the person that you are and doing the things that you do.

word.smith,
Sometimes it is just plain flustrating.  I often wonder why others don't seem to think of the next person.  It feels like I've spent my entire life walking behind people stocking up or picking up.  I like to keep one ahead on everything and if I see something that should have been done, I do it.  I think that some people actually figure that no one will know it was them, "I'll let someone else do it."  Like dropping something that lodges in a behind place and they don't want to bother to dig for it or using the last of something.  Let's face it.  Some people are just not very ambitious. If I am tempted to say to myself, "This time, I won't do it, it was their responsibility."  I follow with the inner knowledge that we are what we are in the dark.  Thus, again I do what I know is the right thing to do.  I guess I'll always be the one to pick up the dropped ice cube, so it doesn't melt and cause someone to slip and fall.  I can't help it!  Have a great day!

Malcolm,

It does make for a little bit of resentment when it seems that the replacement job always falls to me. It is always a case of doing it because nobody else will do it.  ...I wonder why it is that the one who never replace stuff always get the last bit?  Hmmm....

Just Wondering

I dunno, Cass....

More often than not, they're just too darn lazy to move empty stuff to the sink.  My husband has a way of leaving his plate on the table after he's done eating. Makes me want to do this  to him each  time he does it and wanders away.

Telly,

At least that way you can keep an eye on things, eh! The toilet paper incidents can be listed as one of those things that make you go   Screamer

posted by word.smith on September 28, 2005 at 4:18 AM | link to this | reply

I know exactly what you mean
both at home (toilet paper replacement is the biggest bugbear) and work (it's not my job!). I just do things because they need doing, rather than rely on others. It's a pity others are brought up on reliance rather than requirement.

It seems to be a male trait to put empty containers back in the fridge. I often wonder what on earth makes them think an empty plate would be better off in the fridge than in the sink?

I finally had to resolve that one by moving the whole damn package of paper into the bathroom that I use. J is particularly good at never telling me that we've run out of this or that household neccesity. However, watching me have a screaming fit is doing wonders to let him know that I am not always happy.
