Joe, thank you! I don't know if I have the attention and focus necessary to write a novel. But its a thought...

Ca88andra
As always, well-written and entertaining. You know, you might want to get started putting some serious time on writing a novel or something. It will undoubtedly be harder if you're dozing off at the keyboard in the future. *grin*

jacenta - I'm sorry to hear that Peter Pan grows old too... I'm not a big milk drinker, but I do eat yoghurt. I guess we can just do the best we can and hope not to lose the love of life that we have.

Ca88andra,
Dear Ca88andra, just wait until you reach a half century plus.  I've always been a go getter, but now I actually feel pain.  I hate it.  I have always been the feminine form of Peter Pan, refusing to act my age, because life is for living and enjoying.  I love to do the unexpected, have fun,  just to see others'  reactions.  ha-ha   Now, I find I should have taken care of myself and not just think I'd be fine.  The biggest problem is my body lacked calcium and now I am paying the price.  I am still a go getter, but my severe osteoporosis is playing it's tole.  Take care of yourself on a daily basis.  Take vitamins if Doc says so and drink milk. Silly me, never liked milk.  Catch ya later............

Listen woman....
If broke-ass-scrambled-noggin-scared-of-people me can get out and shake her ass and go on some dates, not to mention scare up a few dollars every now and then (very few!!) you can do it, too.  I PROMISE.   My rut was deeper than the ocean and I managed to even shake things up.  xoxo

Flame, thank you for your comments. Actually I'm 45. I think we all deteriorate to a certain extent as we age and I definitely don't feel as energetic as I did at 20. I doubt anyone does. But I certainly will keep exercising and eating well to try to get more energy.

Your article is nice but equally intriguing. I took time to read all line after line and was surprised that at at just 40 you are complaining already. Although I don't know you, just from reading your piece, you are still youthful and could if you wish get any person. But that is certainly not your wish from all indications. Furthermore, I do envy people like you and not the likes of Demi Moore, for I suspect that, they are mostly leading cosmetic livies for the TV and which is always far from being real.
Please, for Christ sake, if I may, don't use that D word in your piece nor even think that you are deteriorating. You are just too fine as you are. Excellent article.

Symphony - I often wonder how women in their 40s cope with being new mothers? I had my first when I was 28 and found it difficult then.

Pat - good poem! Yes, the TV is like a sleeping pill for me.

Merry - it is a vicious cycle! I used to stay up too, but now my boys outlast me by hours.

Usual - I do take enough vitamins, my naturopath makes sure of that! I'm trying to eat more fruit and veg and I'm aiming for 3 times a week at the gym. Will let you know how I feel in a month.

Medusa - if that deserted island had a 5 star hotel with all the trimmings, I might just join you for that break!

Temple - lol! I'm trying to find a money tree to shake at the moment! I think my days of short skirts are well and truly over - although I'll let you know in another month when I've been to the gym religiously. I just worked out that this coming basketball season I will have Tuesdays and Sundays off - what was that about getting out???

ginnie - I don't even want to think about how I'm going to feel or what I'm going to say at 70! The mind boggles...

I am always tired and although I am only 25...I still relate
to you....having two young children help that.

It's not actually age...

It's just that the television is designed to hypnotize and lull.

Your life is busy. Busy and detailed and full.

So if, when you settle in for your favorite vid show

it's off, dear, to dreamland you're destined to go.

I know that feeling
I'm so tired all the time and to make things worse I'm staying up later after the kids go to sleep so I can get some "me time" and then I'm even more tired. sigh....

There's hope in dope!
Only kidding..but you do need to boost your b vitamins a bit.  Esp. 6&12. Trust me on this...I depend on having energy to do my job as it is very physically demanding.  Eat lots of green, leafy stuff and as much fruit and veggies as you can stand.  It'll boost your energy and makes your skin look great (as an added benefit).  Also, can't stress enough...exercise. I know, I know. But if you want to stay on top of your game, it's absolutely impertative. I would start with some walking/jogging and mix in some yoga or pilates for strength building.  Make sure you're taking plenty of calcium and vitamin C as well (preferrably together...OJ with Calcium is great!)  That'll help with building muscle and stamina.  I guarantee you'll feel better the first day...and sleep much better, too.  Good luck!

Cass,
Boy, can I relate. If only we could bottle some of that youthful energy to use later in life!!!

Don't worry, Ca88....We're all exchausted, too...
I was just thinking to myself this morning...I am so tired. Why don't I have any energy? Where did it go?? We all just need a break somewhere on a deserted island...Sigh....My knees hurt going up the stairs. I keep exercising to make them strong, but when you get older, I think knees are one of the first things to go...haha..You're right...maybe we need young, young lovers....Ah....I don't know...

...lol Cass....
Part of the reason we feel that way is because of our activities, I think.  You are in a rut.  I bet if you got out there and shook your money maker in a skirt a little too short, you'd remember you're not old....find that vitality within you.  Even in our 20s that routine made us fall asleep on the couch after work, remember?  You just need a change of pace, that's all.  I know it's tough with the boys and the basketball, but see if you can shake it up a little bit.   See what happens.

Oh Cass!
I could have written this myself!!  It's an eerie feeling for sure and sometimes I think it's not really true!  For many years people would look shocked when I told them I had teenagers...'oh you look far too young to have kids that age'!  I loved it.  Now, when I offer up their ages no one ever says anything close to that!  Phrases like 'I'm growing older', 'when I was young', tend to come out of my mouth though I laugh deep inside, thinking it's surely someone else I'm talking about.  And...to add to it..if you/I feel this way now how will you/I feel when we're 70!  Sorry to include you in that..I'm MUCH older than you! Aghhh!!!!  Where did we go??
