dknowles, know any publishers? Just kidding. No, I'm not a writer, just an artist having fun blogging.
I am a grandmother and it is my joy. Thanks for your thumbs up and stars!

Who are you, really?
Have you written a book?  If not, why not? You get   because what you write has nice 'feel' to it.  Your voice is 'young' and 'wise' all at the same time.  When I get some grandchildren, I hope I can 'thank' one of them for spilling water on the floor or communicate the sheer pleasure of allowing your mind to wander off to some other place or planet or time.  You can and do make this happen for your readers.  Quit messing around.  Children's books, Adventures with Gran, "I wasn't always this smart; I was young once" genre, write it and they will come. Let me know, I'll buy the first copy.

desertsong, no her books are not edited for audio. The reader, Davina Porter, is what makes them come alive.
My girlfriend gave an exhausted me an audio book one night in Sedona. I had a six hour drive ahead of me and had been working all day. It was a dark and rainy night and the drive down from there to the plateau was not a easy one.

That audio book saved my life. I was so interested in the mystery being told that I didn't even notice the time passing and stayed wide awake, like your boss. Radios can make you sleepy. Audio books can keep you awake. The readers are very important. The best readers just make the words hum........with life.

Yes, Patrick O'Brien is great. One of his first readers just kills the stories, but his second reader and final one, is the best. Can't think of his name now.

well.....

maybe you can take some of that energy the book gave you and plan a really BIG trip to India, complete with sailing and everything......

I am going to look for those books.  I read 4 of Gabaldon's, but I haven't had the energy to go back for the last one.  I'm not sure if she lost the feel for the story or I did.   Maybe if I got it on tape it would be better?  Aren't the taped ones shorter than the written ones?  I've heard that they leave parts out.....but I couldn't prove that.   My boss uses books on tape when he travels to keep him awake, I'll tell him about the ships!
