Awwww...How sweet!!  My Nana and Grandpa met when he was twenty (1920) and she was only sixteen.  He asked her to marry him five minutes after they met.  She reluctantly agreed, but only on the condition that if her father said no he would leave never to return.

So home they went and Nana introduced him to her father.  Grandpa promptly asked for her hand in marriage and of course, Great great-Grandpa refused.  However, rather than leave as he promised, Grandpa arranged for them to elope!!

They sneaked away after midnight and next day when she returned home, she had to tell her parents that she and Bill had married in secret the night before.

Nana's father wouldn't speak to poor Grandpa for years!!

Thanks for sharing....What a wonderful story.  God bless you.

By the way...That's a great picture of your dad.
