I can't stand fleas, regardless, let alone their blood. (My weakest thing are actually ticks. Can't stand them.) I can't even stand looking at them. But, as far as fleas go, one of my techs can simply "split them in half" with her fingernail and it makes a "snap" sound. Grosses me out every time. Go figure. I can be up to my elbows inside an animal during surgery, but the sight of an engorged tick or the "snap" of a flea makes me wanna hork.

BUT . . . fleas also suck the blood of other animals. Therefore, the blood in them in not always human--or mine.
I'm just glad my kitties don't have fleas . . . and that I need not see puce flea blood!

Thing is...
...fleas suck up blood, right?
YOUR blood (not that I'm suggesting you have fleas, mind!)
Which means squashing a flea is like squashing a mozzie - the blood that squishes out doesn't belong to the insect.
It belongs to YOU!!!
