That's a nice saying but...
that's not scripturally accurate. Actually, if we pray according to God's Word in faith, we always get a "yes." The problem is that if we don't bother to find out what His Word says or seek God for His wisdom in a particular situation, we pray according to our own wisdom and God is not obligated to respond to our wisdom. He only promised to respond to His Word. There are over 7,000 promises that God has made in His Word that He has given us to use. If we are too lazy to find out what they are and pray according to the guidelines He gave us, He's not obligated to answer.

Now, God is infinitely merciful and there are many times He does answer us in our need when we don't know about His plan. But there does come a time that He expects each of us to get with the program and grow up and do things His way. Not because He wants to boss us around but because He knows what is best for us overall and what will cause us the least amount of pain.

If you'll check out my blog "Living By Faith in the Real World," I'm going to begin sharing God's guidelines for answered prayer according to His Word. I'm not sharing it because I'm the smartest person or because I know everything - because I don't. However, I have learned quite a bit over the years. I haven't always applied it properly and I've made plenty of mistakes but it really does work if someone is willing to put forth the effort.

Okay, sermon for the day is over....

God answers prayers in at least the following three ways...

"Yes."

"No."

"Later."

We just need to thank Him and trust Him for His answers!
