WOW!  I have a feeling that date must bring a feeling of dread for you as it comes near each year.

Thanks so much for sharing.

September 12 (the day after September 11) is a day I can easily remember...

...and here is my list of memorable September 12s:

1895--birth of my maternal grandma

1978--learning of a friend's murder

1989--very painful trip to a bone specialist re: my trick-knee, but day improved when I watched the premiere of Life Goes On that evening

2000--death of another friend to cancer (though I wouldn't learn of this until December of the same year)

2001--not only the day after 9-11 but, also, when I learned that Uncle Jim had passed away in his sleep.  His passing might have occurred on 9-11

This is really well-written, and I could envision the different slices-of-life that you brought up.

I hope things get easier for your aunt!

Hugs!
AJ

Military Wife save your breath. Let those who have ears hear and those who
have eyes see.  Some will not get it until the very end what the two have in common. Thank you for sharing your heart here. BB

Fwmystic

you are looking to pick a fight and I am not biting.  REREAD what I wrote, at no point did I say one had anything to do with the others.  September 11 was the beginning of the way my life turned out period.

What 911 had to do with my current situation is simple.  I am married to a soldier..he could have just as easily ended up elsewhere as he did Iraq.  If 911 does or does not have anything to do with Iraq is not something I am looking to debate with you or anyone else...I would have to be actively following the politics of the situation which for me is a waste of time, it changes nothing about my life as it is today.  Go pick your fight elsewhere, I am not interested.

Wonderful, personal reflection

on an event that many of us will remember for sometime to come. Your last paragraph especially is a poignant reminder of why it's so important to be thankful for family and friends, and to pull together when we are faced with difficult times. Well written and thought out post.

That infamous day in 2001 not only changed the way of life for Americans; it also profoundly affected the way USA conducted its foreign policy with the rest of the world, in addition to dividing people worldwide on various inter-linking issues.

By the way, you may like to consider changing the colour scheme of this blog. The dates of your posts cannot be clearly seen against the green background.

Yes, very nicely written, and captures well the sentiment of many--too much changed on that day.

Well written....

These major disasters are such that they shake us out of our stupor so that we realize we have much for which we should be grateful.
