Comments on Why I pity the left

Welcome, who ja expect!

Very interesting comment! Undoubtedly they hate war. Yet they make war on conservatives in general and Bush in particular, and are largely silent about terrorism, corruption, crime and other evils against which war - of one form or another - should be fought lest they overtake us.

Here's something to consider: Hate is justified, but only in very select circumstances - specifically, hatred of what is incontrovertibly evil, like flying airliners into buildings  - and only if it is channeled into very closely controlled means of overcoming that evil. But it is most certainly not something to be bragged about.

Here's another thought on it: When confronted with hate, such as terrorist hatred for America, it must be responded to with war when all other reasonable means fail, because as a rule those who hate will not be satisfied to see the target of their hatred extending the hand of appeasement and conciliation.

And, twodog, hold onto your leash for this one, I supported McGovern in college. It was reflection on that youthful folly that turned me to conservativism.

AJ, I'm not sure what an SBD is, but I get the idea. If there's any way these people can blame him for anything, they will. (I love the "Bush lies" bumper sticker. Could make for an interesting conversation should he go on record as saying the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.)

PS on War and Hate
We used to have a Rule in our "how to achieve success" group, that said, "Don't register a complaint UNLESS you have the solution."  Most of the babbling would stop if we could enforce that.

Hate and Politics

I betcha most of these people who hate Bush also hate war. But its the hate attitude that causes war - I wish they would take a moment out of their busy hating day to THINK!!

If people stopped hating their President, hating the opposing political party members, hating their competition, hating their neighbors, hating the guy who gave them the finger, then you would TELL that they really hate war, but they really are Walking Contradictions.. Because hate CAUSES war - don't they get it?

And by wearing a button that says, "I hate..." they are really saying, "I'm all for war against..."

Fact is, if each individual would examine their hates for what they really are, we'd find that we're all war-mongers, and we'd have to start a new movement, like, "Getting along ..."

Another thoughtful post, thank you. I have yet to hear, or read, a single viable alternative to any policy or decision made by the current administration. It's wrong, bad for the country, stupid, wont work, can't pay for it, bigited, biased, directed towards the rich, and on, and on, and on. But, not a single viable alternative. You are right, the Democratic Party is a party of hateful rhetoric and no ideas, it is dying a painful death, and that is extremely bad for the country. A political party that gains to much power, will eventually, abuse that power. I am a conservative independent, but, I do not want the conservative movement to achieve to much power, it is dangerous. But, name calling, hate, negativity seems to be all the Democratic Party has to offer. To bad, I started my political awareness a Democrat and as a teenager, campaigned for JFK, did the fifty mile walk for fitness thing, cried when he was assassanated, and lost my family over the political debate that followed, I lived in Alabama at the time.
