Yes!!! I have found myself doing that alot when I try writing something a bit longer than a dozen pages!

Sometimes,
novelists overdo the repititions and I agree that 5x is too much. Sometimes, if done correctly, (like once), they can remind the reader of an earlier part of the novel and provide links to said part. They can emphasise a point.
