It's nice to pull out memories to share! I think that is so sad about leaving the pets behind. It makes a difficult situation to bear thst much harder.

You've made this week special for me, too!

YEAH! GOOFY GOLF!!!
I'd forgotten the name of it. And, you reminded me of Friendship Inn. I'd forgotten it as well. However, the beach amusement park I was talking about was a very small one in Pascagoula. I remember going to the one in Biloxi as well but mostly we just played Goofy Golf!

I tell ya, I feel like we have been friends forever with all of the similar memories we have. It's been so wonderful finding someone who has such a fondness for these memories. You have really made this week special for me.

Thank you, AJ!

Goofy Golf!!!

I remember seeing that golf course.

Not sure if I ever played there, but I might have, but it did look interesting to me!

As for the beach amusement park...

This was a place that we HAD to go when I was a kid--I mean like every night on our way back from eating at places such as Popp's Ferry!

We only spent about a week in Biloxi each summer--and, if I had my way, every single night would include time spent there!  LOTS of time!!!

When I was little, I had no idea what all went into this time at the park--how my dad would drive Lillie & Finn (who were elderly and needed their sleep) on home while my mom and uncle stayed with me at the park.

Then, all three of them would visit while sitting around on park benches instead of in a nice comfortable motel room or the living room of the house my uncle and cousins shared.

For me, it was ideal!!!  I was in hog-heaven.

My mom told me that there had been times when they would have really preferred to visit in a more private and comfortable location, so they would try to distract me when we were about to pass the park.

However, I would always notice it, so we would always go there.

One exception was when I'd caught a fungus infection in my ears from the swimming pool, and I was too sick to eat, much less ride on the rides.

Oh well!

There was this absolutely adorable guy named Winfield Schoolcraft (a co-worker of my uncle's) who ended up joining us for dinner that night.  He had a moustache and looked like a movie star (to six year old me, anyway), and he let me put my head in his lap while he stroked my ear and made it feel better all the way back to the house from The Friendship House where I actually chose putting my head in my mom's lap and trying to go to sleep over getting something to eat.

We went to the doctor's the next day and got some medicine to make me feel better.

But it was so close to leaving time that I never did get back to the amusement park until the next summer.

Although an amusement park was built back after that, I'm pretty sure that the one I went to as a kid was terminated by Camille back in 1969.

I'll be sure to let people know about your pet rescue plans!  That's a very good thing to do!

I'm happy to report that Eddie Alley has been confirmed to be alive, though I don't know much more than that!

Am I repeating myself?  Have I already mentioned this in another comment I left you?  I'm just so very excited!!!

Hugs!
AJ

Memories...they are truly special to each of us... and it's strange how
something or the other triggers our thinking and brings them back
