You are talking about Darwinism,
evolution and survival of the fittest. It is ironic that our so called compassion challenged president and his supporters are the most staunch defenders of a darwinian approach to life.

Hi Hacker! :) You don't consider "the natural state of the universe" as God? What else would it be? But I digress,,,,anyway natural selection is the only way that life can exist on this palnet, or anyother I suppose. But, we all feel compassion so deeply(well, most people do)that we can't keep ourselves from interfering and trying to change the way the world works. We need to learn to love indiferently, but that's not going to happen.

People are already living in plenty of undesirable places...
even ones belpw sea level, such as Amsterdam and that is exactly why Katrina fucked up New Orleans. Like Led Zepplin said..."When the Levy breaks we'll have no place to stay."
