Symphony, the urge to clear out the junk
pops up every so often. Next time it comes calling, make use of it.

Silvermoon,
Oh for a hubby like that. I think mine has just given up, learnt how to turn a blind eye. I understand how having junk thrown out can cause a major case of anxiety. I'm always thinking 'what if something I need is thrown out?' I suppose if I haven't used it in a year....

Pat,
There's half the problem right there, the inability to decide what to throw out and what to keep. I think I'll continue to spend this week getting the things done that I've been avoiding and throwing the rest out.

Thanks Ms. Pickles.
I'll tell myself that when the pressure starts to build.

Folks will start to think you live in your car if you keep rooting around looking for stuff.

Good luck...
I always store important letters somewhere ...I too am usually late paying bills because I also forget where the hell I put them...I have so many letters that I should throw out but I always think I might need them....Hmmm...maybe its time to start sorting them.

lol. The need to reduce! Oh, how I can relate to you. My husband, however, is ruthless. When piles grow too big, he takes it upon himself to thin them out and organize. It's both a huge relieve, a source of great anxiety and a big pain in the backside when he does it. Of course, I also have to tune out the disparaging comments about my own organization skills... I listen one time, then calmly explain that's what he's here for.

Oh boy do I hear you.
Problem with me is I forget about it. That is, until something blows up, like the electric/gas department comes banging on the door saying they want some obscene amount of money or they are shutting off everything right then. Yay! LOVE that. I always say that I need a 50's wife. ;)

maybe this is part of the writer's "curse"
that you look at something and think you might use it "one day" or it gives you the nugget of an idea but you've got to get this (whatever you're supposed to be doing at the moment) done first, until you're swamped with notes and reminders and flotsam and jetsam...

Lol, good luck Word!
For some strange reason, my car has become the newest storage bin for "open later" mail, notebooks, etc. You named the problem right; procrastination it is. Now, gotta go look in the backseat for a poem I started several days ago...;)

Hey Telly, how's tricks?
Sometimes I think that it's the inability to get rid of stuff that leads to me having so many piles. There are books that I've read that I should get rid of, but don't and then there are those that I haven't read and probably never will and they are also taking up space. Oh boy!

Lib, I am determined to do something about these bad habits.
....Well, at least for the next week or so anyway. That's how long my industriousness usually last and when are you going to put something up?

Good luck! I hate paperwork too, but the one thing I do do when I get a bill is put it straight into my diary on the date it has to be paid. That way I remember.

Don't feel bad, you're not alone. In this house, piles endlessly shift from one location to another, but never actually
end up anywhere...

I understand completely--I have piles like that as well. I'm pretty good with the bills because as they come in, I put them in my purse to take to my office, where they go on my desk in a special place. But the other stuff--the piles get so unwieldy until eventually I have no choice but to attack them.

Haha...I can see you opening a closet or a drawer and a mountain of paperwork comes crumbling down on top of you...and you're fighting it off like a cartoon, and then the last thing that falls will be something you thought you lost years and years ago....
