I see nothing wrong with homeschoolers suiting up
should they so desire... but I think homeschooling kids would find highschool sports as restrictive as they find public schooling and might want to look around for other alternatives..
from a homeschooling mom whose kids spend way too much time socializing.

Very responsible of you to document your source.
The speed and casualness of blogging make it easy to forget to cite one's sources.
I don't know enough about this particular case, but broadly speaking I think it's wrong for a kid to be excluded from the best sports leagues just because he doesn't go to the public schools.
Now, in an ideal society, there would be leagues independent of the public school system, but still publicly accessible so all kids could use them.
It seems that homeschooled kids generally do just as well on objective measures of their performance, such as national and state tests. I don't think homeschooling should be peremptorily dismissed, but I also think it's important that all kids have some regular, and meaningful, exposure to other kids.
