I love this
Writing is great except when it isn't and today it isn't I hate the days when I WANT to write but I stumble all over myself for words!

There's one thing all the teachers I have read here have in common:

Grading blues.

You are but one influence on the students. Their lives are bonsai; don't expect to snip them into literary topiary*.  But insist they meet your standards, because that's part of the big lesson, and it will help you keep your eyesight.

*(OK, my kid's watching "Edward Scissorhands"...)

You say it so eloquently. My engineer boyfriend is always flabbergasted with my love/hate relationship with writing.

It's just a glitch...
in the otherwise smooth sailing process. Breath in, breath out and let it pass. You'll be back to normal in no time. Keep the faith!

so maybe you've hit bottom
and you're on the way back up. Bouncey, bouncey. There's a grin coming. :)

MayB--
that's quite a little downer mood you've got going on--I'm sure the disaster news isn't helping it. But I think this mood shall pass, you know in your heart that you can write...and tomorrow will provide a fresh start!

May, if you can, take advantage of this waiting time to disconnect and recharge.  Read some fun books, see some fun movies, none of which require you to think beyond what's going to happen next.  If possible, maybe you can go somewhere overnight, or a daytrip, to somewhere that will soothe your soul and take your mind of everything you're waiting for, and what's expected of you.  And for heaven's sake, leave the computer home.  Or turn it off and don't even look at it for a day or two.  For the whole weekend, or a whole week, until you absolutely have to.  Be kind to yourself, sweet lady.

I'm sure grading can drag you down...
...perhaps 'having' to read and comment instead of doing it whenever you want and for pure enjoyment is a whole different story.  Sounds like you could use a break MayB!  Any planned down time?  And wow..that job sounds amazing!
