No, the re-sale to which I referred was organized by the College
in the winter of '02, and we had two options: sell our books back to Barnes and Noble for a guaranteed 10 percent refund, or sell our books at the student-organized sale, which did not promise to sell our books but promised a greater return on those books that did sell.
I chose the student sale, because that seemed the more popular choice, and most of the students at William and Mary were evidently smarter than I and I had solid reason to trust them. Still I got back not much money.
But just as well because I have found some of the books which I tried to sell back rather useful to me, and I'm glad I still have them. Anyhow, thanks for the advice, which will be very useful to me at this semester's end!

Your attentions are much appreciated, blogging buddy...As you can tell, I rely heavily on this site for human contact, so it means a lot...

Dylan...
...if you're only geting 10% on rewsale, you may be selling in the wrong place. Have you tried Amazon or eBay?

I was merely reflecting back.
Thanks for stopping by.

Why, the book company benefits, I presume!
The new editions are surely improved, but you have to pay for the whole book, not just the new parts, which seems irrational to me.
Then, when you go to sell it back, even if it's in nearly the same condition, you're lucky to get ten percent of what you paid for it. Also not rational if the book's in eighty-percent condition to get ten percent of its original value.
But where it's regular people versus big business, and government takes the latter's side so vehemently, what do we expect?

Sounds like lots of fun...
I'd apply for the flat if I lived on your side of the ocean. As it is, I shall stay and tough it out at my "mum"'s place until such time as I can afford a place of my own (or more precisely, a place of someone else's own for which I pay extortionate rates for the privilege of staying there).
I am taking college courses by Internet through my state's university, and cannot spare much change. Yesterday I purchased two classes' worth of books -- just two classes, keep in mind -- for nearly 300 dollars.
It's one of those cases where only some of the books may be purchased used -- many of them are new editions and you HAVE to buy the new ones, bloodsucking money-grabbing bastards! Anyway, best wishes!
