actually, John
is an overused name
seems to be parents who can't think of anything else, or are just too lazy to find a neat, unique, solid name, name their kids John.
There are too many Johns in this world.
However, I took a lot of thought in naming you. When we were expecting your sister, I thought of your name (a few people by that name were prominent) and a coworker thought it was odd, so i thought of transposing the first and middle names -- but then your sister came along and I didn't have to -- and when you came along I stuck to my guns.
Aren't you glad? It's a good name.
Imagine if you'd gone around with the name, "Lives Kooka".

In Germany you have to document any potential names with the
govt. Any names deemed "goofy" are denied.
My cousing wanted to name her daughter "Lilly Pele" (two ls on purpose) and had to jump through red tape just to make that happen. The local govt had to investigate the name "Pele" to insure that it indeed was a Hawaiin name--and not some weird moniker.
True story.
