People always think they know best with ree-see-pees but messing with them requires good instincts

I'm trying not to gag,
but chew splatter is pretty gross.  Boy, I wish I would have read this after dinner.  Take care Joe Love, have a great evening

Leaving out a few secret
ingredients is the best way to keep the recipe your own!

Joe
now i know that if i ever want to ask for recipes from you, i should stay away from chewing and spitting. :P

Sounds delicious...
You are a quick thinker, indeed.  I probably would have ackwardly told them, "Sorry, it's a secret."  But, hey - I don't bake.  The mice ruined my oven with poop.  I don't want to buy another one, because I don't think they are all gone.  They'd just ruin another one.  By the way, baked mouse poop does not smell good.

Well, Joe,
You're a good man, on several scores.  Someone once asked me for one my specially modified recipes, and instead of just giving it to her, I altered it, and tried not to feel guilty when a co-colleague informed me the recipe didn't work out right!  Thanks again for highlighting my blog.

Funny tale joe...

I guess this means you won't be posting that recipe? Just kidding...

I am very impressed that you make all those pies! I always think I should do something like that, but when the time comes around I only have time for our family baking.

I loved the post, Joe_love.   I seldom eat pie anymore but one taste of your peanut butter pie with a big cup of coffee would  be an adventure.   It would be fun to critique it on Blogit and award you a blue ribbon.

I look forward to and enjoy reading your posts so much. What a great idea for a thoughtful Christmas present. Anna Belle sounds eerily like my sister in law and that's NO compliment

Very funny, Joe Love....These folks are funnier than Jen and Brad...
I love your sometimes aserbic wit, Joe...I agree a" stupid-pupid tractor pull".....I also think how kind you are at Christmas time with the cd of songs on the lid of the p'nut butter pie box. How sweet are you. Straight men should read that and learn something, haha. Anna Belle's a hoot. smart witch...

Well she asked for the recipe and you gave it, no need to add the little modifications, we each have our special ways in cooking that others need not know for they have to alter things to their taste

Anna Belle sounds more like something one would name a dairy cow...
You know, like Elsie the Cow! :)

I have enjoyed your blogs so much! they are packed with wit and hilarity- you write at a standard that I hope to achieve one day, and you give me lots of great inspiration.

Thanks for being so great! ;)

Joe, A good Peanutbutter Pie recipe is sacred...

I had gotten mine from an Italian Restaurant in Vermont.  Yummy, and worth keeping.  The drive for the pie is a few hundred miles closer to home now.

Hmmm, secret ingredient? I would say the moral of this story is never spite the man who makes the pie. Too funny and another enjoyable read.

peanut budda pie
screw anna belle.  she sounds like an unsavory character, and i make a point of never trusting people with palindromic first names.

Great post! Now here again....I'm just from weird people....grew up with a mama happy to share her recipes, but they would say "Anita's Lemon Chess Pie" and that is how they would come to be known by all who made that recipe...and I do the same....of course, I change the name to mine.

I've done this same thing. My mother taught me....lol! She died NEVER revealing the TRUE ingredients in her English Pea Salad that she always made at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Wench!!!

Maybee, if Johnny helps out...

It'll have a mild hint of tobaccy spitjuice? Could be quite an original pie ya know?

Fantastically real and funny as always JoeLove.

I agree..She asked for it, give it to her...
No need to tell her your secret ingredients and/or process. Ugh! I'd be hard pressed not to tell Johnny to mind his spitting.

Pat B... I love that episode of Raymond... it was meatballs, wasn't it?
I'd never give away my mom's meatball recipe! (hers are the best, no contest, and I'm not being biased.  LOL)  We'll give people the general idea, but never exactly.  Marie had it right.  LOL

OF COURSE, mine if better than the one you eat in that diner! *rolling eyes*

Shades of Marie Barone
In case you're not a fan of "Everybody Loves Raymond," there was an episode where Marie gave her cannole recipe to her daughter-in-law, but she substituted one spice for another... Just couldn't risk having the "competition" get her praises...  I wonder if Martha does that?  Thanks for a fun read...

Mmm....my favorite.  I wish I could try your version.  There's a little hole in the wall dive diner in my Mom's little hick town that makes a pb pie to DIE for.  I'd love to do a taste test to compare them.  (And so much for my bootcamp weight loss program!)

Joe..
My grandma told me... a person never gives away a personal recipe. You did the right thing by giving the "standard" recipe out of the book. Anna Belle .. just brings to mind the Poe poem that brought me to love poetry.. Annabelle Lee
