You....are not oblivious. ANd I doubt anything like that would ever pass your lips but i'm sure if it did you would grab it back immediately and own it. I've said things to my kid taht i regret but usually i woudl use it as a learning experience and a chance to show her hwo to keep seperate what is "hers" and what is someone elses. I would just simply say I'm sorry that was my old hurt not anything to do with you and it really deflated the sting. Apologizing and owning our behavior and our weakness goes a long way in healing relationships, no one is perfect we all say unkind things, its important to own them and not leave them a heavy shroud on some innocents shoulders. Your mom and mine could not do that, you and i can...we are blessed by our experience and our learning from it, and that we have to pass on

My worst fear is that oneday I will do the same thing to my children and not even realize it...because I think if my mom realized the stuff she said and does, she would make an effort to stop...but she is oblivious...thanks for reading and sharing

mothers can push off some pretty powerful pain on to us...mine walked down the hospital corridor after my father died and turned to me and said "you killed him you know?" Of course what she really meant was "I killed him", but it was so much easier to project it onto me and since i carried such a burden of shame and guilt she could do it so easily

My mother is a good woman, but she expects a lot from me...and is my toughest critic...when my brother died, she mentioned to me, she would of rather it been me....I know she said that out of hurt, but her words still hangs heavily within my heart. Hugs to you as well.

Mia there's so much spite and resentment in your tone and words...
Truly a masterpiece with alot of messages. Who can love if mother love's not?? I can sympathize with the feeling. I do hope is a creative work and not of your own experience...I myself have gone through the horrid reality of mother feeling shamed...many hugs~Cosy
