Oh, and a note on the Moral Majority. I loved those bumper stickers that
proclaimed THE MORAL MAJORITY IS NEITHER.  I wish I still had one.

I agree, zarrothepaun. I have never cared much for Jerry and those other
evangelical morons.  But I can see his side of the argument.

Think about it

That comical nut Jerry should be featured with the Key Stone Cops. It's difficult to believe that anyone could take him seriously. And if you check it out, you'll find that the moral majority is in fact neither.

True enough, RAME. The problem arises in all this separation of
church and state stuff.  People make up the government; people in general are religious.  It is very difficult for people to make objective, clinical, empirical decisions without being biased by their belief systems.  Therefore, the separation deal is bogus at best, nonexistent at worst.  Still, religion sparks controversy, and the media lives for controversy.  So does politics.  It sells.

Saul,
People will make what they want out of anything said.  The press is notorious for that.

Pat_B: haven't you heard, Christianity mixed with politics and a pinch
of intolerance is the latest fad.  Won't you follow blindly?  Please, with a cherry on top?

There's a humorous story about political hell
on my blog about the fast lane, can't find the on ramp. in which a senator dies and is given a choice of heaven or hell... I can only hope I never become as intolerant of Christians as some of them have been towards people who don't accept their particular take on the faith the way they do.

Technically, on a religious standpoint, you are correct, Madame.
But since both religions have the same base in the Mosaic Code, their general purposes and goals are nearly the same.  And, really, when you get down to it, they are both waiting on the same thing (almost): the coming of the messiah -- the Jews for his first appearance, the Christians for his second.

Well, realisticly speaking, to be a "good christian" ...
is to be "anti-jewish". That's not to say, Falwell isn't still well within his rights to express his preference, however.
