Hacker, my sweet...

Thank you so much for sharing this with the rest of us.  I've had friends with your condition, but in all honesty, I know very little about it.

Peace, my friend....

Military Wifey

It is believed that Schizophrenia is a genetic thing, so I was almost certainly born with it. Often a traumatic event brings it to the surface, but up ‘til that point it is still there, lying in wait. The earliest delusions I remember having were when I was about 12 years old. I knew something wasn’t right, but I didn’t know what. I knew people were trying to hurt me, but I didn’t know why.  I didn’t think I was in trouble, I knew I was in trouble. But I’ll go into that more tomorrow.

For me, the traumatic event might have been my parents divorcing when I was five, but no one is really sure. My great grandmother was hospitalized her whole life with schizophrenia, as in her time they had no treatments for it. So, it wasn’t a big surprise that someone in the family ended up with it again, I just drew the lucky straw.

I remember you telling me about that a long time ago. I can imagine that would be very, very confusing indeed. I have to fight the urge to talk back.

WOW!

Thank you!  OK, just call me 20 questions:

When did this start for you?  Was there a traumatic experience or was this something that you were born with?
