I totally agree with you both! OC, are you a Tori Amos fan btw? :) It was really strange, I was just thinking tonight, that during my internship, it was the hardest working, most dedicated doctor in the hospital that suffered badly from slander. It's paradoxical. It really makes one wonder. Vane, I totally agree too - women are hardest on: other women! Just seeing old friends and what their mothers say confirms it.

Double standards are everywhere. I grew up in a very sexist culture, full of machismo and bravado. But you know who the most machista people are, not the men, but the women when rearing their little men. They're the ones mostly to blame for perpetuatinf our double standard.

I agree....

It IS very much a world that continues to honor double standards...and yet no one will outwardly admit to them in a politically correct arena. And despite the fact that the soul who has the most honesty and integrity SHOULD win, it seems in our world these days to simply put on a show of these qualities, while the unspoken but expected sabotage and lies go on behind the scenes....this is accepted as the "norm", and these guys/girls seem to be ahead.

Sucks don't it?

Keep talking about it though...keep working on ways to change it...and keep making sure not to enable it in your own life. This is what I try to do.
