Oh I really don't want to have to research this one
Let's just say I am satisfied that man's activity is in fact destroying habitats and species of many animals and birds. Entire ecosystems in fact... Got any carrier pigeons hidden around your place? Didn't think so. I actually have some background in ahem the "Chemistry of the Environment" as well as "Ecological Economics." Hey, I was interested in those things. I took courses in them. I have not checked back on those areas in detail in over a decade though because it's really damn depressing.

Thank you =). In many cases you can't really blame the people, you know? It's so easy to get swept up in stuff like that. Don't even get me started on recycling =P

Indeed! That's true, the link between second hand smoke and death by cancer is blown waaayyyy out of proportion. And to think that laws are passed based on incorrect data, now that's just scary.

U-H,
Lots of things are often blown out of proportion and more than that, a lot of stuff is NOT backed by scientific evidence. Not that I don't think smoking is bad, but this whole thing about "second hand smoke" has never been proven. Besides, how many times have you seen the reason for death on a death certificate stating "second hand cigarette or cigar smoke?"
