I'm glad to hear you speak out on this subject --
so many Muslims, at least in the USA, have been very quiet and reticent in speaking out against the violence and bombings perpetrated by a small percentage of fanatical Muslims. I've offered wondered if their silence means a tacit aggreement.  I would hope not!

i also am with you
we do have paranoia, however, on blogit
one blogger, name of opinionmaster, is really paranoid and has made comments that are biased.
but there are many like him.
we need to not judge a whole people on the acts of a few.
i think those who would do such deeds as the london bombings must have something that exposes them -- we need to pay attention to discern, rather than act with paranoia toward every Moslem we encounter.

*I`m not muslim*

Although i am not not a muslim, as i am a C. of E.i do have to express my sadness and extend my thoughts to the muslims that are at present being taunted and punished, for a cruel act to which they are in as much shock as the rest us, i wish people would remember we are not animals and should be able to fairly give everyone a chance to grieve, whilst they too maybe innocent, and to those that are being attacked unfairly i express my sadness, and embarassement, of knowing my culture the british peole can allow themselves to jump to conclusions and tar all muslims with the same brush, without allowing them to be innocent until proven guilty, and left in peace.

Sorry to those people from me.xxxx

Silence
I fully agree that by remaining silent all Muslims become one. People. in cases like the London bombings, fall back upon perceptions witjout thinking about truth because of the pain inflicted and the anger that pain causes.

I cannot agree more...

It was also the Muslims who provided shelter to Jews for nearly 2000 years, while the rest of the world persecuted them falsely. It's only since 1948 that there's been a growing divide between Jew and Muslim - and I believe it's at least partially the result of propaganda designed to stir emnity.

I believe that if Muslims do not stand up and be loud in rejecting what is happening, they will signal other Muslims who are discontent to think that the terrorist type are the 'true Muslims'. A clear signal needs to be sent otherwise we are not so much headed for a third world war as an all consuming religious war.

I Heard...
...a lady suggest on the radio over the weekend that we, in the UK and across the West, have a duty to reach out to the Muslim community, to reassure them that we don't tar them all with the same brush, that we recognise the iniquities we continue to visit upon Muslim countries, and that we understand that there are Muslim extremists, the same as there are Catholic and protestant ones, and Jewish ones.

(Buddhist extremists? Not that I know of!)

Yesterday, on the boat back from the Farne Islands, I engaged in conversation with a young couple of south Asian descent. I've no idea what religion they were - nor do I really care - but I like the reaching out idea so much, I'm going to make sure I do it now, at every opportunity.
