I have been calling this a world war long before 9/11. A different,

unconventional type of war, but a world war nonetheless.  September 11 should have driven it home for everyone, but that only focused the U.S. and the world for only a few months.  Then Afghanistan.  Then Iraq.  The the Madrid train bombings.  Now, London.

And now, finally, in the last several months, you are starting to hear grumblings of an unconventional world war.

Sometimes, it takes a while...

I feel for you. I cannot empathize, for I don't know what it is to live near such events.
You, living in U.K., are much closer to this than I.
I have been close to a drive-by shooting.
in 59 when a tornado ripped through St. Louis, we were all on edge. I looked east of my house one day, down the street, away across the river, I think, saw smoke from a smokestack that resembled a tornado, ran to the back and down to our basement, warning, "tornado!", and the next door neighbors turned over their lawn chairs getting up. I really thought it was one.
One never knows, though.
The world certainly is getting scarier.
There was a time when it generally was scarier than this. We live in pretty peaceful times relatively. But that doesn't take the edge off of the fear.
Anyone living near major economic centers and such, engaging in business or other activities nearby, should be scared.
I'm not. I live in St. Louis. St. Louis isn't important enough to be attacked.

Very well said & written, EHP

Until we admit our contributions to this tragic world mess and make an honest effort to really be the "good guys" we will continue to reap what we have sown. Sorrow of empires.

I know this is terrorizing Symphony, I remember the fear filled days immediately following 9-11. I live nowhere near where the attacks occured, but the prospect of more attacks and all the unknown elements were nerve wracking. Do you have neighbors who you are on friendly terms with? This helped me and others on my block through the first surreal hours. We huddled in my living room, 20 something people, in front of the t.v. of course, sharing hugs and comfort. Later somebody brought wine and food; we talked late into the night. Having others around at a time like this is important. Hugs and prayers sent to you dear friend.
