I put no limits on marriage, ccnews. I find the institution a bit
ridiculous, as a matter of fact.  Given the animal instincts of people (and the runaway rise in divorce and remarriage and divorce), monogamy may be the safest way to play the game, but it sure as hell doesn't have much effect on how people are playing it.  Monogamy is found in nature in isolated niches, very few species.  Just because we have developed higher thinking capabilities doesn't make us any less animalistic, just far better suited to curb our instincts.  Marriage is simply a social control mechanism and has been for centuries.  It has been used as a way to show possession and contractual partnership, all under the auspices of god and government.  But with changing morals, we find that the lifelong bonding of marriage and god's blessings on such doesn't mean a helluva lot to a helluva lot, so the social view of marriage is inevitably changing to include the idea that several marriages and unions, some not sanctioned by government and/or god, are permissable, not only on a individual and societal level, but on a religious level as well.

Question: What limits would you put on marriage? Let your imagination
run free because whatever you can imagine... may one day happen.
