Thank you very much for your comment. As you'll notice, I was moved to use it as a basis for today's post. Good luck - and keep out of harm's way.

You obviously missed this:
offbeat
As I've said many times before, Britain held off Nazi Germany for two full years while you people dithered on the sidelines. Without the sacrifice of thousands of British lives, you people would have been speaking German now.
Europe's population is considerably larger than America's.

Farenheight that is. I guess more of us should watch this doccumentry. It's truly disgusting. I am currently serving in Afghanistan. Lets just say Bush and Blair aren't on too many peoples love list. It's sad I'm fighting here so Bush could have an oil line ran from the caspian sea through northern Afghanistan. Whats worse is the men who die for theese things, thinking they died for red white and blue.

Hey, Limey. If you get a chance,
check out this
quote I found in the book,
The United States of Europe, by T. R. Reid. I think you'll find it interesting, considering your slant on Americans.

Hating Americans
If it hadn't been for the Americans in 1942-1945, you brits would be speaking German now. Get used to it!

I seem to recall the BBC running a documentary on this - quite horrifying - story. Thanks for the information - I'll try to obtain a copy the book.

Let's add IBM to the list also, Limey. I read a most enlightening book
about how IBM during WWII not only still conducted business with the Nazis, their machines and their amazing punch-card systems allowed the Nazis to process information quicker, categorize and inventory everything from fine art to the number of farm animals to the number of casualties to the number of undesirables, the last of which these fine machines helped eliminate in record-kept and oh-so-efficient numbers. The book is
IBM And The Holocaust:
the strategic alliance between Nazi Germany and America's most powerful corporation by Edwin Black, published in 2001.

Ah, yes, I wanted to talk to one of you about this independence nonsense. Hadn't you realised that it was all a ghastly mistake and that you're actually still legally bound to Great Britain? Sorry to spoil the fun Woo hoo!
PS Do you mean Tatenham Corner?

Dr-Bob
I bought my copy of Charles Higham's now little-known book more than 15 years ago. It makes fascnating and shocking reading. I haven't come across it on the web.

Though I am two days early, I'd like to wish you a Happy Independence Day. God Bless America - and those who pretend they really don't adore us.
P.S. I live in America but my ancestors are of Tatenham. Is there any part of you that can give me a Woo Hoo?
