Enlightened minds think alike

here is my comment I gave sannhet for his wonderful post on the subject of "stuff" and I see you are of the same mind--

On a simple life (by Sannhet)

Well written subject.  In simpler times, we survived on bread and cheese, fruits and vegies from our gardens in their times and occassionally meat (if we were able to afford it or butchered our own).  These days grocery stores herd us through isles scientifically studied by marketeers for maximum exposure and profit.  Little thought is given as to the real cost of such things.  Christians who what to follow Christ should consider his words on the matter--"Therefore I say onto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.  Is not the life more than the meat and the body than raiment?  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow no, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns' yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.  Are ye not much better than they?  And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not neither do they spin. . . Therefore, take no thought saying, what shall we eat? or, What shall we drink" or , wherewithal shall we be clothed?  (FOR AFTER ALL THESE THINGS DO THE GENTILES SEEK). . ." (MATTHEW 6:25-32)

So, in reality, there are very few Followers of Christ in America, since consumerism is the number one past time.

I hope you get a chance to read my recent poem, Prosperity.

You make a good point, Painter, that we carry far too much stuff--physical and emotional stuff--that separates us from our true self, our nature, and the fulfillment of spiritual awareness that is in us all.  Today is all that we really have to live as best we can--why not live it in love for ourselves and for others.

Peace,

FR

Painter -
When we "drop the bag of useless things" we ARE so light that as you say, we have a "clearer vision" of our path and are ready to experience whatever comes our way with a spring in our step. Well done.

empty - oops...baaad speller

...that word should be "metaphoric."  I have a tendancy to get so caught up in thought that I fail to spell correctly.  I hate the technical part of writing.

"...we drop that bag of useless things..."  and when we are able to do this, our journey becomes so much lighter.

How appropriate your description, of that which we can not just touch but feel, as well.  Meaphoric and much appreciated!

You have a wonderful way with words and I'm glad my writing moved you to post your "lesson."
