Original, I think they are dealing with it, thanks.

Moondawg - interesting. I suppose I hadn't got around to thinking what they were going to do with him if they caught him. I wonder if they will let me know?

mary - that's a dreadful story! Nowadays, I hope it just wouldn't happen. But I have heard that various not so nice incidents do occur. A sign of the times I suppose.

wordsmith - I've been wondering if its really his number or just a made up one?

posted by Ca88andra on June 24, 2005 at 2:04 AM | link to this | reply

Justsouno, fair comment. Maybe we are too tolerant of everything.

Tapsel, I think there are more of them around!

Quirky - me too!

Vibrance - I had the same thoughts exactly! Luckily there aren't too many students around as its exam time and holiday time.

Rachel - yes I handed the note in and I'm sure Security will find out who it is. There are security cameras everywhere.

Temple - I have no intention of taking the sticker off my car! lol

posted by Ca88andra on June 24, 2005 at 1:59 AM | link to this | reply

Tomato-Juice, I suppose this guy could have had a bit more forethought and got pink paper!

posted by Ca88andra on June 24, 2005 at 1:58 AM | link to this | reply

gypsy - lol! The only further update I have is that apparently four notes have been handed in to Security so far.

posted by Ca88andra on June 24, 2005 at 1:55 AM | link to this | reply

ginnie - interesting though, if I had been 20 years younger I probably would have called the number!

posted by Ca88andra on June 24, 2005 at 1:54 AM | link to this | reply

kingmi - no garage, just huge open carparks. There are generally enough people around that I don't worry.

Thank you Symphony - it was a bit freaky!

posted by Ca88andra on June 24, 2005 at 1:53 AM | link to this | reply

Talion - the sticker was my way of dealing with mid-life crisis I guess. So, I would hate to see it go. I think I'll just wait and see. But you are right - it is a sad indictment on the state of this world.

Factor - absolutely! *grin*

mmm - one of the Security guards thinks it might be someone who has been put up to it for a joke.

posted by Ca88andra on June 24, 2005 at 1:50 AM | link to this | reply

This sounds scary...I hope they deal with it.

The only problem I see
with this whole thing, is what can they charge him with. Maybe one of those big burly security guys could take him around back and have a talk with the fellow about the dangers of leaving notes on women's windshields, but that may be about all that they can really do, if that's all he is doing.

posted by Moondawg on June 23, 2005 at 8:07 PM | link to this | reply

Ca88,

Security's reaction proves your intuition was right on: too weird, possibly dangerous.  Especially since you're on a university campus, they're right to take it seriously, stalkers would see a college as a candy store, lots of potential female targets.  I'm glad they're taking it seriously.  There have too many incidents in the past on campuses, where they didn't and it ended badly.  I remember back in the 80s, registration gave out a girl's class schedule, her stalking ex-boyfriend found her and shot her.

He has some nerve though.
Or maybe he's just silly to leave his number. At least security will have no difficulty finding him if the number's on the up and up.

Taps is right they never do. But on the other hand we are the only nation
surely that allows anything in the world except intolerance. There is an exception to that too.

The wierdies never go away, do they.

that is quite disturbing actually...hope he gets caught.

the note
It is creepy.  I hope no women falls victim to this line. Love, Vib

posted by Vibrance on June 23, 2005 at 8:29 AM | link to this | reply

Yuck.
Too strange.  Hopefully they know who the guy is for sure and can put a stop to it.  Since there was more than one note left, I don't think you really need to feel targeted.  He probably doesn't remember which cars he leaves notes on from day to day.   Turn the note in, and unless you hear otherwise, I'd put it out of your mind.

posted by RachelAnna on June 22, 2005 at 7:18 PM | link to this | reply

Okay, so now I'm simplistic...
But he can't hurt you through the phone.  Don't take the sticker off your car!  That's letting them win.

posted by Temple on June 22, 2005 at 5:15 PM | link to this | reply

The windshield stalker

is probably someone who works there and notices who comes and goes on a  daily basis. In Dallas those kinds of notes are usually neon pink with a 1-800 number!

Cass.. ok, now you can be paranoid and jaded again!
That is a freaky thing to find out. Keep us updated!

Wow Cass!
So it was something worth taking seriously....glad it'll be in good hands now! Whew!

Ca88i, you should walk to the garage with someone every day after work!

posted by kingmi on June 22, 2005 at 10:02 AM | link to this | reply

wow how scary
I am glad you did this though...its better to be safe than sorry.....good for you...take care

posted by _Symphony_ on June 22, 2005 at 8:39 AM | link to this | reply

Ca88andra
The thing this has revealed is maybe you shouldn't have that bumper sticker on your car. Just like a woman can no longer leave info on an answering machine that implies she lives alone, it seems she can't have anything on or in her car that implies the same. It's a sad commentary on the state of the world, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

posted by Talion on June 22, 2005 at 7:56 AM | link to this | reply

Ah, so once the young'un finds out how "ancient"
you are you are safe anyway?

posted by FactorFiction on June 22, 2005 at 7:05 AM | link to this | reply

wow... that's really interesting.... odds are its not someone that wicked or the phone number probably wouldn't have happened...... probably someone really desperate to date.... a stalker would likely have hung out, waited, watched and then followed...

i am glad you reported it though, none the less.

Temple, yes that's a bit too simplistic. I'm not going to call the number.

Maybe I'm too simplistic...
But why don't you just call the number and see who answers?
