- Go to yeah -- Cards are the best!!!!
did i say?
the local papers commented that Stan Musial had better stats than Joe Dimaggio, but Joltin' Joe got more "glory" because he played for the Yankees.
so you opinion, Burly is really not just an opinion. It's backed up by the stats.
St. Louis has almost always been an excellent team -- just NY gets allthe press -- just because it's NY.
New York has been and always will be vastly overrated.

Stan the Man
I remember Stan Musial best of all. The crouch at the plate. The bat waggling ever so slightly. That beautiful swing. He hit line drives to all fields. Could pull one out when the pitch was right..would punch it to center or slice it to left when it wasn't. A magnificent hitter and he came from Donora, Pa. very near where I lived at the time. I remember him best of all and I consider him to be the best left handed hitter of all time. Personal opinion.

Cards and Browns
I remember listening to the series on the radio in 1944 when St. Louis beat St. Louis to win the world series. The Cards beat the Browns who went on to become the Orioles. It was wartime and a lot of the players wouldn't have been on either roster in normal times. But Denny Galehouse pitched well for the Browns but the Cards were just better..Ray Sanders, Whitey Kurowski, Harry Walker..on and on.
