Hacker,
What really throws me off are all the docudramas about Christ, they're all British, so not only does Jeuss have pale skin, blue eyes, and talk like he's stoned in a distant, calm voice, but he has a British accent!  Huh?  People have to have an image, but the real truth is in the heart, because it's so hard to grasp that eternal essence, that life force behind it all, the enormity of power.  It's just a picture.

I grew up in a Catholic school and this was always a big question to me.  White skin and blue eyes is all I remember seeing during that time.  It's cooler if you imagine him with purple skin and fire engine red hair.  I call him "The New Jesus."

Seriously! You have to wonder if people would deny their own savior due to the color of his skin. I wouldn't be surprised. So stupid.

Just imagine what would happen if He returned, but didn't look like the guy in all the paintings. What if his skin was darker, hair a bit kinkier... He thought He got crucified the first time.

Factor
You know, considering the region and the time period that Jesus was born, it seems more probable that he was black than white, doesn't it?

Oh and hey, I'm going to write a post that you inspired. Sort of. Well, kinda. You'll have an honorable mention =P

Yup there was a show called Good Times on in the

seventies when I was a kid, Good Times, was it's name? A black family so they had a black Jesus painting...I think they got a lot of mileage from it... (it was a comedy)

Anyway, we were always told we were made in God's own image. Therefore, he'd have to be white right?

Another one of those things that sets me off about religion to be sure.

As an after thought
What really cracks me up is the thought of all those "Christian" fellows who spout their ignorance by calling people from the Middle East "towel heads" and "camel jockeys" and much worse, while all the while their savior was one of those people they decide to be racist towards. Hehe, stupid people make me laugh.

And yes, I put Christian in quotes, because the stupidity of those individuals shouldn't affect the image of the others that follow that religion.
