Yup, we have bouncers here as well - sometimes referred to as security! And sunglasses, shades, sunnies are all the one and the same thing here. We generally head out to a pub or a club but we go out to get pissed (drunk) not pissed (angry). Also, there is no fanny pinching here in Australia because unlike America where the fanny is a person's bottom. Here it is in fact the other part of the female anatomy and no, not the boobs! Oh, we also call the toilets - toilets or the loo, we very rarely say we are going to the bathroom as that's where you go to have a shower or a wash!

how's that for starters?

I did that once.  The bouncers kicked me out of the bar so fast I didn't have time to put on my sunglasses, and my jaw is still wired together.

A bouncer, here, is one of the big wrestler types that kicks you out.  What do the Aussies call those?  I suppose a bar is a pub over there.  I was going to say shades instead of sunglasses, but that may not be Australian either.

It would be interesting to do a book comparing the strange words used in the varieties of the English language.  The Internet might be a good place to do it.   JJ
