yes you are right theelbster
It is also a matter as stated in a recent post - apologies I can't remember who but they interviewed an author C Howard-Johnson who described the difference between writing what you want to to write and what readers want to read.

Fluff vs. Content
I have for a long time now (OK, the last few weeks here) thought that it was a shame that the fluff pieces so often make it to the top of the rankings, but one day I had an epiphany. What's one person's fluff may be another person's content. Some pieces, I think we can safely all agree upon, are nothing but fluff, but probably not all.
Some people write because it is fun, and many write for the audience. Hopefully, that is not
all that they write, and they will write also for the sake of writing and expressing some of their deeper emotions, but like people, writing can't all be one emotion. People are silly, angry, somber, happy, bored, excited, non-sensical, and everything else, and so should writing be too.
