I think it might be the bromide they're putting in the tea.
PS The British Army used to add this stuff to soldiers' tea to reduce their sex drive. Yes, really. I understand it tasted foul.

You said that last time, and it's wrong. You really must take note of the world's leading climatologists and not George Bush, who doesn't know when it's cloudy or sunny.
PS I think over there you say 'In God we trust'? That's just fine. But please make sure it doesn't transmute to 'In George we trust' - a recipe for disaster.

You love Americans? Are you feeling quite well? No, of course, I realise you're not. Sorry. But this is terribly strange - no-one loves Americans.
However, each to his own.
Charles the dick? At a guess - and I might surprise you by accepting your assessment - you're writing of Charles, Prince of Wales, our future King?
You're right about the tea. I've had absolutely dreadful problems: I can only think it's all down to the Yanks'long memories.
You're also correct about the Empire. Do you know, there's so little sun anywhere nowadays I'm thinking of selling my pith helmet? (From what you tell me, I certainly won't need it in Canada and Tony seems unlikely to need his now his Africa trip's going pear-shaped).
By the way, I had Australia down as number two in the world's worst polluter stakes. Seems you've caught up - something rare for Canada.
Look after yourself.
PS Next time I'll try hard to be a little more abusive.

Global bullshit
The earth is millions of years old. It's still molten in the center. Volcanos put more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than any power plant. Be reasonable. After all these millions of years, in the last century or so, we've dumped so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that it endangers our existence! Ridiculous!! How could you possibly believe such a thing? It's all cyclical. It would happen whether or not we were here. You're funny!!

Alright hoss truth will out. I haven't read you previously because I just love Americans therefore think the title of your blog is offensive.
It is however the kind of title that git's ya clicks, and well look at what Charles the dick will do for a click right mate?
That however does not make you offensive of course old chap, and now that I have read you I realize what a grand writer you are.
Of course now I do think the tea has caused you some grief hoss. This global warming crapola you worry about is very simply because you do know in your heart and mind that actually, old chap, the sun is about to set on the British Empire.
Now while it may also be that the sun is about to set on the rest of the world with the exception of Canada, you shall not be alone in your darkness.
You see, while your man Blair has been kissing Georgie's butt for a few years now, none of you super powers (sic) realized that it is Canada poisoning the world as we are the worlds worst polluters , worse even than the U.S.A.
Oh did yawl notice how Georgie pulled his strides up yesterday and told Blair to piss off? Over Africa wasn't it?
In the end we Canucks shall rule this empty darkened globe, but it won't bother us a whit because were used to the cold and darkness of winter.

Thanks.
I believe public opinion can sway things, as has happened in the past - eg through the Civil Rights and anti Vietname War movements and the ban smoking campaign.
Remember, Richard Nixon was forced to go as a direct result of people pressure following the Washington Post's Watergate disclosure.
When given the facts people usually make the right decisions. The trouble is the truth is so often concealed from them.

Limey,
My main point is that people look to the president for solutions to problems when solutions are not within his power. That's true of every leader we have ever had. If his leanings are in one direction, one group attacks, if they are in another direction, another group attacks.
While it is true that the president has powers that go well beyond those of the man in the street, and can influence a sector of the population that is essentially in agreement with him, the public is not willing to make necessary sacrifices, at a personal level, to solve social problems. There is too much disagreement to get enough people working in the same direction to accomplish anything. There are ways to solve problems, but I don't think that the bandwagon approach is sufficient for much more than generating animosity--pot shots between bandwagons.
I don't blame just Americans, but their level of self-centered, materialistic, gluttony does make them particularly guilty. They are, in general, particularly self-centered. I hope no one but your reads this. I'll be reprimanded sharply.

As someone so closedly linked to Big Oil, George has set himself up for ridicule over global warming. It's funny and tragic at the same time: in other words the president really is a clown.

Limey, et. al.
It's always pleasant to have a president to blame for everything. No one wants to take any blame upon themselves. And, after all, doesn't the President of The United States have the power of God himself? Let's put the heat on the president. As long as no one has to stop using air conditioning, he should do something NOW!
And one other thing! This country is just diving into Iraq for oil. What do we need with more Oil? We just need to get ''Big Oil'' companies out of our pocketbooks so that we can drive our Monster Trucks around as much as we want. As soon as we all get a vacation trip to Alaska in our 40 foot Winnebagoes, the world will be right.
And we need to get the world heating or cooling fixed by the president too. The hell with whether it's Hotting or Colding, just fix the son of a bitch, Mr. President. We're pissed off as hell and we're not going to take it any more!!
Thank you. I had lots of fun at your blog.

There are too many vested interests at work, which means the planet and mankind are suffering. Disinformation by the likes of Exxon, backed by the the American government, must be corrected. The only way is for people like you and me to raise awareness.

Thanks. The consensus among the world's leading climatologists is that the planet has been heating up for decades because of man-made carbon emissions.
I hope to do a post on this today. By the way, was your email sent by a climate-watch group?

As far as global warming goes, George Bush is trying to the muddy the water. I hope to do a post on this today.

dear Limey
tks for your very good info. i am however shocked to see the plethora of uninformed comments on your piece. sure, many dont care about what happens but those who do feel scared, not only for themselves but for the world at large and the future of humanity.
of course, there is a theory of civilisation taking re-borth like the Hindu philosophical belief than man is reborn again and again. but must we wait for that and build our planet earth anew? why shouldn't the American people urge on the decisionmakers to go slow and draw a line -- this far and no further?

I was interested to read about George and his bicycling: is this true?
I read somewhere that despite his opposition to Kyoto he has one of America's most environmentally friendly ranches. In other words he's a typical politician - says one thing, does another.
Glad the money's rolling in!

Limey,
There are significantly differing opinions about this subject by equally qualified representatives for each side. Should it be looked into? Yes. Should the U.S. be blamed for global warming? No more so than any other industrialized society.
And for the record, "W", though born in Connecticut, moved to Texas when he was just two and attended public school there until the eigth grade. So he is definately a Texan.

Limey, no, I am not basing my information on Hollywood...it seems there
are conflicting stats on global warming. I did just get an email from a group that confirms that the earth is definitely increasing in temperature, but I read just the opposite the other day...like I said, either way, things need to change.

George was born in Connecticut and educated in Massachusetts. So he's a bogus Texan - which means he shouldn't be too difficult to handle (Just whisper cocaine in his ear and I'm sure you'll find he comes to heal quite quickly).
Meanwhile, expect things to hot up.

Limey, studies show that the planet's temperature has actually been getting
COLDER as a result of all those gases...but, it's still due to the environmental issues that are getting out of hand. Watch the movie
The Day After Tomorrow...we're more likely to cause an Ice Age than we are anything else...global warming or or greenhouse gases are causing this horrible change. The earth is trying to expel the damage...whether it goes to ice or melts, either way we need a change.

Ah, Limey
Bush is a Texan. He's got some things about him that make him an ass but when a Texan defends his territory, they are serious. There's not a lot most of us can do about him. The good news is that he's only got a few more years in office. Until then, it's the cowboy way.
