Medusa, no I haven't tried emu oil. I've heard of it, but its not something that is readily available and I've heard its fairly expensive too. Thank you for the thought.

lovelylady - thank you! I did have a wonderful "me" day today. Tomorrow begins a national basketball tournament that my son is part of, so there will be no rest for the wicked!

the-loanlady - LMAO! the thought of a lumpy bath is making me laugh. I did have a new shampoo, so I've got rid of that and gone back to the one I've used before. Starting tomorrow, I'm onto a healthier diet too.

Temple, my skin is getting TLC! lol I usually use olive oil as a moisturiser, works well. I get asthma too, in cold weather especially, but believe it or not I use affirmations to control it as the medication I had made me sick. I've just started a homeopathic antihistamine for the hives and I'm using affirmations. I think they are beginning to fade. Take care of yourself - OK!

How about emu oil? Have you ever tried that stuff. It's supposed to be very kind to your skin and to heal skin eruptions. Good luck

Careful of those hives, Cass...I've never had them, but my cousin used to get them.  Hope they heal up soon.  I'll keep your mum in my prayers.  Try to relax as much as you can this weekend.  You deserve it!!

Have a fantastic three day weekend!!  Happy hair dressing!!  Try to do something else nice just for you, too.

Ew-w-w-w-w-w, hives.   I had them once, please, please, please, no more.   I cannot stand to itch.   They were all over my neck and chest and lasted forever.   Pretty sure they were caused by Msg at a Chinese restaraunt.   It was back before people stopped using in Chinese foods.

Hives -- have you changed laundry soap or shampoo??? sometimes something on the skin contact can cause them. Mostly an allergy to food, medicine or environment. Try a half dose of benedryl which will reduce the redness and itchy but make you sleepy ... oh well no easy solutions. Oatmeal bath, oatmeal soap something soothing... Now  you are wondering what am I going to do floating in the tub with a pile of lumpy oatmeal? Might make a funny movie.

O my lord, I sure hope you don't get those things on your face. Now to the hair..your idea of letting the dresser decide, could be just what the doctor ordered. Kind of like one of those make over shows where you don't know what it looks like until the end.

oh, I don't know about the soap, I have not heard of it...
My allergies are bad like Symphony's, my eyes swell shut.  Maybe it's good Jimmy lives far away?  This never happens when he's here!  Actually, they are worse in California and my hay fever is CRAZY here.  My best friend just sent me some samples of the allergy meds that work really well for me but that I can't get on county med and can't afford.  The herbal remedies don't touch my allergies, they are monster.  Too bad, too.  My asthma medicine isn't even covered on county, she's sending that, too.  Can't use homeopathic remedy for that, it's too serious.  Hmmm, a bit off topic.  Anyway, hope you find a solution soon.  Trust me on the lotion, then the clothes.  The first time it happened really bad to me, it was my laundry detergent.  Good thing I have Jimmy, cuz I'll never get a date from this place again now!

no lotion?
you're skin could just be needing some TLC....(I actually have an article published on this, and no you can't read it I hate it....it's one without a byline...lol...)....get some gentle lotion, it's probably not your shampoo or conditioner though....try switching soap, just for the hell of it, maybe you are going overboard and need more moisture not less....if it wasn't for benedryl I'd be a big itchy thing.....VERY sexy :)

Thank you Symphony. Wow, I didn't know hives were so prevalent. You learn something every day.

I too have hives
I suffered more last year....because they were in my eyes and I was unable to breath too (asthma makes it worse) I had a stressful year and had them everyday....coming into this year I have had them a few times but not as bad..although it is still itching....the doctors are usless...so its good that you gone for herbal stuff as thats what I had to do in the end and it did help a great deal.........take care and hope you get a nice hair do

Temple you're wonderful! I'm chuckling here because I never thought I would get a whole remedy from anyone here. I use a soap that hasn't got fragrance or anything, its for allergies. Do you guys have Sorbolene over there? That's what the soap is made from and its non allergenic. I don't use lotions on my skin, only olive oil sometimes. I did start a new shampoo and conditioner, so I'm going to stop them. I'm getting some antihistamines and I'm sure I'll be fine. Thank you for caring!

I'm a professional at hives because I have sensitive skin
and I'm allergic to everything.  This is what you do.  Take benedryl, because if it's an allergic reaction you need to stop it.  I'm all for homeopathic medicine, but still take it.  Switch soaps, even if you've used this one forever.  Use baby soap or Aveeno without fragrance.  Switch lotions to something gentle like that, no fragrance.  Nothing expensive.  Drink lots of water.  Put lotion on after every bath or shower.  If after a few days they don't seem to get better, get a special laundry detergent that has no additives (they are marked in the store) and wash everything....sheets, towels, clothes.  Keep taking benedryl.  I know it's not what you are trying, but trust me, I so much as look at something with the wrong ingredients and I start getting itchy.  It can be stress, but more likely it's the season, an allergy, something in contact with your skin.  Do what your naturopath says, but do this, too if you want.  If you can find Aveeno oatmeal baths, soak in warm (not hot) baths....showers shouldn't be too hot either.  It's not the green tea or the Vitamin C, I'm pretty sure.  You can use a product on your skin for years and suddenly develop an allergy.  When they go away, introduce your normal products one by one for a couple of weeks at a time to see if anything happens.  It works for me and I have to do this crap alllll the time.  :)  good luck
