The Nazis certainly weren't the first to use those tacticts against their people. And I'd say you're right about the jobs for soldiers. But hey, life would be boring without war, wouldn't it? John Wayne would have had to stick to westerns.

Well articulated by Goering, he gets credit for that, but...
he certainly didn't invent this gambit. It's standard, age-old procedure. Politics is war. As long as there are countries, nations and flags, there'll be plenty of jobs for soldiers.
