Oops, Phillys

Seems I'm trying to give you a new name.

Phyllis,
I had a look, no you're not advertising what you aren't selling.

The title of my blog does really sum up what most of posts center around. Although, it may seem misleading it is not always about masturbation, but rather the trials and tribulations of sex and love and life. I hope it is not misleading!

I take the same approach Metta.

I usually don't waste the time if I know that the title is about sensationalism.  I don't think I've read Odysseus, but now you've mentioned him, I will pay a visit. Thanks for reading.

I rarely, if ever, will read a blog with an outlandish title that I know is only put there to attract readers... it is a new pet peeve of mine... actually, I read Odysseus irregardless of his title because he always has excellent thought provoking blogs...

Thanks Taps.

If we're not vigilant, we all tend to go overboard with this at one time or another - but just to say that your last post was related to what was an eye catching title. I just had to click.   Ariala does say from time to time that we need to develop the habit of using eyecatching titles if we expect to get attention.

Good post, word.smith.   I try to be careful with this very thing although, I'm sure that I go to far now and then with misleading titles.

Tweeter,

Thanks for reading. That's the thing about blog sites, we're free to post as much drivel as we want to, with next to no restrictions.

Or Worse!
So far that hasn't happened to me. But I have been on one site, just today, that I thought should totally be thrown off the blogit website entirely, since his opions, as such, were totally close minded, self righteous and  the most ignorant peices of nonsense I have ever had the displeasure of reading. I guess those people exsist in this world too, boy isn't that ashame.

Reni,
It almost never happens that way for me. I can possibly do that with articles, such as one I wrote on Blogging as in 'Should You Be Blogging?', but almost never when doing a post. I'm always a little disappointed when I find that a post has nothing to do with the title.

Mspickles, I always knew that there's

no rhyme or reason to creativity. We all do our thing differently, to achieve our results.  Guess that's why we're artists.

Sometimes I do think of a catchy headline first and then write a blog
around it--sort of an exercise.  But I agree with your post.

I usually work the other way round - write the headline first and build the article around that!

Yep.
I agree.

Argus, If I can

I make it a point to avoid posts that confuse the heck out of me and that are really about nothing at all.  Trouble is you can't know it until you get inside.

Hey Wordsmith,

Interesting Post . Enjoyed the read.

word, that one is about midway up in the peeve list;
peeve #1 for me are posts that have no substance, much less show anything approaching writing skill.

Lensman, creative license allows us to do a lot
in the name of writing.  When it becomes the norm, then we're in trouble. It's over and out for me right now. I'll pop in for a visit with you later on. Thanks for reading.

I read your post...
...and then ran my mind back over my own titles.  So far I think I'm okay, although I lied about being kidnapped.  Posts like this one are helpful for new members.  Cuts down on some of the bad habits we could form

Thanks for the compliment Flightpath.

Misleading titles annoy me a little.

You ARE a word smith - I read it to the end. (Expect mass agreement.)
