lucky you

You sound like my 21-year old son.  He has a job, but he still lives at home.  It is a job, not necessarily a career, and his job certainly isn't with a traditional "secure" company.  Then again, what job today is secure.  Companies fold and leave people jobless all the time.

You are lucky to have parents who support (put up with) you.  But don't have such an aversion to renting.  It may seem like you are throwing your money away on something that isn't yours, but renting has it's advantages.  I was lucky to have found a cheap HUD home with an affordable mortgage.  I sing for a living.  That's just a different type of starving artist.  Of course I had to take other work from time to time, mostly with Kelly Services over the years as a secretary.

So, don't limit yourself, and don't be afraid to take the leap to independence.  I've been doing it since I was 15 years old.  Family will always be there to help in hard times no matter how old you are.  Worst case scenario - if no one helps, believe me you will find a way to support yourself.

Believe...
